Key job responsibilities

You will work in the team responsible for the technology that supports customers renting and purchasing TV content and Movies and subscribing to services such as Channels, using third-party marketplace payment methods ensuring all financial activities are accurately recorded in Amazon’s systems. Accelerate Prime Video’s growth by building highly automated, scalable finance systems. As an engineer, you can be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

A day in the life

We handle purchase and subscription lifecycle events in near-real time and map them to financial entries that are then recorded in the ledger. The ingestion and translation software logic varies based upon factors like marketplace provider, product type, locale, and taxes - which gets complex quickly with our global presence.

We play a key role in most Prime Video launches into new countries and when new products and features are offered on third-party payment methods in an existing marketplace – ensuring the financial activities are accurately recorded as customers buy our products.

We also own and are rapidly evolving a service that performs payment reconciliation and variance detection. In addition to new expansion efforts, the team is investing in technology streamlining and migrating existing products and marketplaces to our current approaches - helping us simplify, and grow and operate more efficiently.

About the team

The team believes in open discussion on design ideas, collaboration on problem solving inside and between teams and a strong sense of ownership. We encourage everyone to engage in discussions and strive for an innovative and inclusive culture. The team owns the end-to-end delivery including supporting our customers.

The role will expose an individual to many different business areas (product/finance/accounting), as well as other internal services, and provide detailed knowledge of all the different departments involved in customers buying, renting and subscribing to our products.
