GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The  Deputy Editor understands the news industry, the progressive community and sees the big picture, leading the team with their strong news sense, hands-on approach, original story assignments, strong writing and editing skills.

MAJOR DUTIES  

Line editing  Write blog items, articles, interviews, reviews, profiles and multimedia storiesRecruit and work with writers Network and create alliances with affiliates Foster website’s mission, vision and culture Analyze data as it pertains to editorial thematicsLead team meetings

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education

BA or higher in Journalism, Communications, or related field required

Experience

A minimum of 5 years in an editorial managerial position within a news organization
