----Job Details:General NotesAbout the Harry Ransom CenterThe Ransom Center is an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin. Its extensive collections provide unique insight into the creative process of writers and artists, deepening our understanding and appreciation of literature, photography, film, art, and the performing arts. Visitors engage with the Center's collections through research and study, exhibitions, publications, and a rich variety of program offerings including readings, talks, symposia, and film screenings.The Ransom Center encourages discovery, inspires creativity, and advances understanding of the humanities for a broad audience through the preservation and sharing of its extraordinary collections.PurposeAs part of a dynamic team, the Communications and Marketing Manager works to implement strategic plans across the Center to engage in-person and online audiences through social media management, email communications, and public relations efforts. This position reports to the Head of Communications and Marketing.ResponsibilitiesCommunications and Community Engagement

- Implements strategic communications and outreach plans for the Ransom Center. Writes for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, social media, email communications, media announcements, blog articles, public service announcements, and website content. Supports biannual magazine publication through communications, content management, and permissions. Continually researches and applies new forms of community engagement to invite active participation with the Center's mission.Email Marketing, Blog, and Social Media

- Develops and executes email communications to the Center's audiences through a bulk-email automation platform; creates visual email assets; develops templates; and maintains email lists with an emphasis on growth. Expands online presence through social media messaging; designs and creates visual content; posts regularly across multiple channels to increase audience growth; develops content in coordination with a cross-departmental development team.Marketing and Reporting - Implements marketing strategies for the Ransom Center through paid ad placements to promote exhibitions, membership, and programs. Monitors audience engagement, social presence, and gives regular updates to the effectiveness of the Center's communications, marketing, and advertising initiatives. Helps to monitor activity across all social channels.Project Management - Helps manage projects for the Ransom Center Communications and Marketing Department using a variety of tools, such as Office 365, WordPress, and web platforms for project, social media, and email management.Publicity and Media Relations - Coordinates and executes public relations projects for the Center. Promptly responds to requests for information under the guidance of the Head of Communications and Marketing. Ensures proper and timely distribution of materials to targeted audiences, the media, and the general public. Plans and executes marketing events and coordinates media visits and interviews. Coordinates photography and video production for marketing and online/social purposes.Performs all other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in journalism, English, public relations, communications, marketing, advertising, or related field with a demonstrated commitment to the humanities.Four years of experience in communications in any one of the following: media or public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, or social media and content management. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Expert fluency with digital, email, and social media platforms.Excellent organizational and project management skills.Ability to work in a fast-pasted environment under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of creativity, initiative and sound independent judgment.Utilizes excellent verbal and written communications skills and maintains a professional, respectful, and service-oriented focus when interacting with other employees, vendors, volunteers, visitors, and the general public.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in any of the areas above.Experience working in a library, museum, other cultural institution, or non-profit.Photography and video capture and graphic design experience.Salary Range$50,000 - $53,000, depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsLift and move standard office files and supplies.Work hours may include occasional evenings, weekends during peak periods to meet deadlines.Required MaterialsResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interestImportant
