Working in close collaboration with design, engineering, and product partners, the Product Design Lead for Internal Tools will define and deliver an intuitive and seamless experience across a suite of tools used to produce high-quality machine learning data and accelerate the development of self-driving technology.

In this role, you will

Lead the overall design and support product strategy for Aurora’s internal tools

Manage, lead, and mentor a small team of Product Designers

Build a collaborative environment for cross functional collaboration

Partner closely with engineering, product, and design peers to define a vision and to deliver incremental improvements that work for users and our business

Frequently engage in UX Research to understand and evaluate the usefulness and usability of our workflows and tools

Lead strategic design initiatives to define, prototype and deliver innovative new user experiences

Ensure high quality design and consistency across product development teams

Contribute to design system strategy, creation and maintenance

Report directly to the Head of Design

Required Qualifications

7+ years of product design experience

2+ years experience managing product designers

Experience designing and shipping enterprise software, data products, or 3D visualization tools with complex technical requirements

Experience working on B2B or prosumer desktop apps

Strong communication and experience aligning priorities with diverse stakeholders

Eager to take on new challenges and willing to do what it takes to get the job done

A portfolio demonstrating relevant work experience

Desirable Qualifications

Experience leading larger design initiatives, ideally for new product introduction

Experience working closely with engineering, product, and design peers to define, design, ship, and iterate on highly usable products

Enjoy turning ambiguous and highly technical problems into intuitive interactions

Experience building and maintaining design systems

Ability to work collaboratively across teams of people from all disciplines and levels

Experience guiding and prioritizing work for UX researchers and product designers

Advanced skills in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design

High proficiency with Figma for prototyping and design systems

Experience designing for ML, AI-powered products, or self driving technology

Understanding of freight and transportation industries

Experience with qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions

Ability to travel 25% of time

The base salary range for this position is $189,000 - $302,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
