The work of the Editorial Activities Manager is motivated and animated by Manual Article XXXIII which guides the work of the Office of Committee on Publication: “to correct in a Christian manner impositions on the public in regard to Christian Science, injustices done Mrs. Eddy and members of this church….” With a purpose to lift and heal public thought, and to give humanity the opportunity to see Christian Science in its true light, the Editorial Activities Manager approaches impositions on the public as cases in the Christian Science healing practice. This position provides oversight, coordination, and management for the Editorial Activities of the Committee on Publication, including initiatives and projects for the Manager of Committees on Publication. It includes management of the Editorial Activities staff, including the media scanning function, and coordination with the other functional areas of the office (Committee Support, Government Relations, Ecumenical/Interfaith, etc.). It also includes writing and editing of day-to-day corrective materials and responses (letters, articles, comments, talks, interviews, etc.), including working closely with Committees on Publication in various jurisdictions on corrective cases as well as interfacing with various long-range projects (books, websites, etc.); it provides support for the Manager; and also provides metaphysical support for the Manual work of this office.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPraying specifically for the healing of impositions and in support of essential activities that the office and Committees in the field are engaged in;In consultation with the Manager, manage the preparation, writing, editing, researching, and tracking of corrective materials and responses in fulfillment of the Committee mission—including letters-to-editors, op-ed pieces, public talks, media and other interviews, general and academic articles, reference entries, pamphlets, website materials, online posts, or any other necessary information, including multimedia materials. This work includes supporting such editorial items generated by the Manager’s office, as well as supporting those generated by Committees on Publication in the Field;Oversee and coordinate the Editorial Activities function of the Committee on Publication office and its related staff, including the writing and editing of day-to-day corrective materials and responses, interfacing with various longer-term projects (books, websites, etc.), as well as the record-keeping of these activities;Manage the Editorial Activities staff, including the media scanning function, to determine daily and weekly editorial priorities and provide editorial support and guidance to staff and Committees in the Field who support the Manager’s office editorial work;Actively engage with Committees on Publication in writing and/or editing corrective responses;Oversee the preparation of the bi-weekly “Trends in Thought” email to Committees on Publication worldwide, Committee on Publication staff, and others at The Mother Church;Manage and oversee the Manager’s office responses to Wikipedia entries, including coordination of a subset of Editorial staff and Committees who focus on these responses;Prepare and facilitate training for new Committees on Publication in the Field regarding the editorial work, as well as ongoing development opportunities for all Committees on Publication in the Field regarding the editorial work;In coordination with the Manager and the Office of General Counsel, review and comment on select testimonials to offer the Committee on Publication perspective before their publication or broadcast;Work closely with and coordinate/provide Editorial Activities support to other Manager’s office functional areas (Committee and Field Support, Government Relations, Ecumenical/Interfaith, Special Projects, etc.).STAFF MANAGEMENT AND JOB CONTACTSReporting Relationships

Strong management and interpersonal skills, including metaphysical maturity and grace, are required.Work EnvironmentThis position is available to anyone living in the US and is approved for off-site work with regular in-office visits.Engagement with Christian ScienceMembership in The Mother Church and Primary Class instruction required. Christian Science practice helpful.
