Do not pass up this chance, apply quickly if your experience and skills match what is in the following description.The Design Director reports to the TDIP Program Executive and is responsible for the design delivery of all TDIP Programs performed by various designers under different contracts. The characteristics of the candidate must include a complete understanding of airport terminal functions and assets (i.e. passenger processing, baggage processing, airline operations above and below the wing, concessions, landside functions, and aircraft/apron requirements). The individual shall have experience in working for an architecture or engineering firm to know the inner workings of what it takes to develop a design through all of its phases. The individual shall also be driven to “think outside the box” and be able to lead and collaborate with large groups to find the right solution.Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and BluebeamFamiliarity with Project Management Information SystemsAbility to work in CAD or REVIT a plus20 years or more experience, preferably on airport projectsHas demonstrable specialized experience / area of expertiseExperience with projects more than $100 million in valueExperience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/BuildProven ability to perform in a management capacityExcellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulationsMust have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilitiesMust be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgroundsMust be detail oriented and highly organizedBachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or other related technical field requiredMaster's degree preferredRelevant professional licensure and/or certification are strongly preferred. Certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc.May assume other duties as required/neededMaybe required to work past regular work shiftMaybe required to work various shifts as neededThe salary range for this position is $160,000-$208,000. Overseeing the review and approval of technical documents (DRT process)Lending expertise to manage comment resolutionFacilitating meetings and be the technical liaison between the Developers/Design-Builders and TDIP Subject Matter Expert teamsWorking with the Project Manager in defining, reviewing and/or approving design requirements, responsibilities and program consistencyProviding guidance to the Project Manager should design requirements contained in the project documents not be clearly definedServing as the final stop for resolving engineering issues that straddle several contracts and cannot be resolved in an amicable mannerProviding technical support to the TDIP Change Advisory BoardProviding technical review of changes to scope of work for each projectEstablishing submittal approval procedures and ensure uniformity of review approachAuditing project team comments and Developer responsesMonitoring compliance with architectural and engineering guidelines for the TDIP Program ensuring consistency and quality in design of all the different products across the different projectsMonitoring permitting information and the permitting process required by the design teamSupporting project managers to ensures design reviews are completed on time and within budgetDeveloping and maintaining the TDIP Program scope tracker to verify that all scope elements are accounted for and have been or will be assigned to a projectProviding guidance related to the functional requirements contained in the technical specifications or other project documents supplied by LAWAMonitoring BIM productions of all designers and contractors according to LAWA BIM Standards, the BIM Execution Plan, and needs of the TDIP Program. The Design Director is responsible for working with LAWA’s Central Building Information Management (cBIM) to develop the strategy for BIM implementation and reviewActing as technical liaison for the design review processes and comment resolution in coordination with the project manager and the Design Review Team (DRT)Providing technical support and coordination with and among all TDIP project teams for program consistency across all disciplinesProviding technical Support for adjacent LAWA projects not in TDIP as required to ensure accurate interfaceProviding technical coordination for program consistency across all disciplinesPreparing and reviewing briefings, meeting agendas, and supporting materials for various meetings including Board presentations, TDIP Steering Committee meeting, Stakeholder outreach, and other TDIP meetings
