These scopes are combination of small interior renovations, departure level curbside upgrades and the creation of a warm vanilla shell on the 4th level of the APM West Station. The characteristics of the candidate shall include experience within large campus environments (aviation, transportation, higher education campuses, etc.). The individual shall be driven to support the design team and its leaders in their efforts and be proactive in expressing opinions of perceived betterment for the greater good of the project. Communication and organizational skills to be collaborative with many data points and people is highly desirable.Position Description:The Terminal Refresh /CTA West Station Design Manager establishes and monitors procedures for engineering review activities to ensure they are done according to best practices and the design standards identified in the Contracts. The Terminal Refresh /CTA West Station Design Manager shall oversee design support management, scope of work management, design review and approval, permitting, agency coordination support, and building information modelling (BIM) coordination. The Terminal Refresh /CTA West Station Design Manager supports the Terminal Refresh T2 T5 T6 T7 Project Manager in providing oversight of the tenants/design-builders designs including architectural, structural, mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP), civil, utilities, and IT disciplines per LAWA standards. The Terminal Refresh /CTA West Station Design Manager oversees the various design activities of the Terminal Refresh T2 T5 T6 T7 project.

It covers Terminal 2 east pre-security and curbside, and some departure level canopies. Renewal of certain mechanical, electrical and plumbing assets may be included in the project. The CTA West Station scope is to prepare for the passenger movement when the APM opens and prepare the new open space for a high end retail and dining environment.Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications10 years or more experience in managing the design of large, complex building projects, utilities and infrastructure improvements, preferably on airport projectsDesign management of complex aviation improvements experience requiredExperience managing a team of design professionalsExperience with projects more than $100 million in value.Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/BuildProven ability to perform in a management capacityExcellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulationsMust have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilitiesMust be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgroundsMust be detail oriented and highly organizedEducation/TrainingBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, and/or related field requiredProfessionally licensed Architect and/or Engineer preferredHardware/Software KnowledgeProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and BluebeamFamiliarity with Project Management Information SystemsAbility to work in CAD or REVIT a plusThis is an onsite position LAWASkills and RequirementsSpecialized SkillsWe are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers, committed to diversity in the workplace.
