PRODUCT DESIGNER | JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

At Magnolia, the Product Designer works closely with the design team to create custom Magnolia products. This position plays an active role on our highly collaborative team, contributing to the overall seasonal concept and creating original designs for product categories including lighting, furniture, hardware, and other decorative accessories. This position works from the Magnolia Headquarters in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Senior Product Designer and may have supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Research trends and translate them into seasonal concepts to be presented to merchandising and leadership teams*Create original designs for 2+ product categories per season (including technical drawings, surface artwork, color, trim, finish, material, and technique reference) based on seasonal direction, sales data, and merchandising input*Create technical drawings in Adobe illustrator and detailed tech packs to communicate specs and construction details to factories*Lead sample review meetings and prepare comments and corrections for factoriesDevelop a deep understanding of our Magnolia customer and lifestyle, and partner with merchandising to learn the overall business strategy for each categoryDrive category growth and margin improvement through an understanding of manufacturing processes and factory capabilities*Participate in weekly team meetings, product reviews, and finalization meetings per season as neededDrive calendar alignment and priorities to meet all deadlinesProvide leadership, management, and development of one or more design team membersPerform other duties as assigned*Metrics evaluated on Performance Review

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred2-4 years of experience with a related degree, 4-7 years of experience with a non-related degree, or 5+ years of industry experience preferredExperience with 3D/graphic design/textile design strongly preferredPortfolio requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
