JOB DESCRIPTION

The Graphic Designer role works closely with the Senior Designer, seasoned editors and producers, as well as youth interns, to create visually compelling assets that support the organization's media platform and marketing initiatives. The Graphic Designer is responsible for production and workflow of communication design across editorial, social media and marketing. This role is accountable for, mentors, and co-creates work alongside our design interns.

Position Responsibilities:

Serve as a creative mentor to and oversee our yearly cohort of graphic design interns.Partner with cross-functional teams to pitch ideas, resource interns and provide design assistance throughout the project lifecycle.Function as a hands-on graphic designer on projects that support the mission of the organization across editorial, social media and marketing in both digital and print.Produce social media content as part of executing the organization's engagement strategy and content-based marketing campaigns.Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop project timelines, identify obstacles, and foster healthy communication between teams to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining brand standards.Other duties as assignedRequirements

3-5 years of professional graphic design experience working in-house, agency or equivalent.Experience pitching and developing marketing campaigns and social media content. You have proven high-quality design skills and a fresh approach to engaging audiences on social media.Ability to execute and present research that identifies emerging trends and timely social conversations. Knowledge of pop-culture and the media landscape is a plus.Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities.Ability to adapt in an always shifting media environment, work under tight deadlines and mitigate on-the-job pressures.Strong collaborator who partners well with cross-functional teams.Mentorship experience with a desire to work with youth and young-adults.Proficiency in Adobe CC apps such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Premiere and AfterEffects are a plus.A working knowledge of Google Suite or equivalent to create and manage presentations and documentation.

Salary Description

$60,000 - $70,000 annually
