Salary Range: $78,000 - $80,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director manages a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors and designs and executes Columbia Engineering’s broad-based communications, and develops various marketing strategies and materials to increase donor participation across Engineering constituencies.

Responsibilities

Works with the Director of Annual Giving, and in partnership with other team members, on large-scale annual campaigns, fundraisers, and challenges, with a focus on marketing materials and solicitations that aim to secure gifts up to $25,000.

Manages a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors.

Analyzes, interprets, and presents data to identify segments of prospects and donors capable of making first-time, renewed, or increased gifts to Engineering annual funds.

Serves as project manager and strategist for Columbia Giving Day and Pi Day.

Develops print and digital assets, which may include invitations, newsletters, brochures, impact reports, and donor solicitations for groups, including but not limited to the Dean’s Leadership Society, Engineering Parents Council, and Engineering Development Council.

Assists the Director of Annual Giving with the development of marketing strategy, which may include attending meetings with internal partners and serving as a project manager for centralized marketing campaigns.

Creates and deploys email marketing assets using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Canva, and Adobe products, which may include creative assets, email deployment, social media graphics, and gathering and routing assets.

Assists in Salesforce Marketing Cloud email management, which may include uploading send lists, scheduling and sending emails, and tracking email send information.

Under the guidance of the Director of Annual Giving, and in partnership with other team members, the Associate Director ensures all materials, development communications, invitations, and graphic design work, adheres to brand guidelines and marketing objectives.

Conducts general maintenance of the websites and edits content periodically.

Works with outside vendors, which may include sourcing pricing for purchases, designing materials, managing deliveries, and processing invoices.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.

A minimum of 3-4 years of related work experience is required.

Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a comparable digital marketing platform is required.

Experience using the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is required.

Excellent creative, writing, editing, and interpersonal skills are required.

Extreme attention to detail and an eye for accuracy is required.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with an ability to manage multiple and complex assignments simultaneously, determine priorities, meet deadlines and monitor results are required.

Must possess a high level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Must be self-directed and motivated, able to work independently, but also as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in related fields such as annual giving, nonprofit management, or fundraising within an academic or university setting, or other complex organizations.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of basic fundraising principles is preferred.

Other Requirements

Subject to business needs, the Office of Alumni and Development supports a hybrid work arrangement for this position. Options will be discussed during the interview process.

Must be able to work some evening and weekend events as needed.
