Design Manager, Sweaters- Corporate Headquarters, Secaucus, NJ

Job Summary:The Design Manager will oversee the design process from conception to final prototype for assigned products. This position will be fully responsible for entire product design to include market research, designing, sketching, specking, and fit. The Design Manager will build effective collaborative relationships with their cross functional partners and maintain the unique look, integrity and vision of our brand.Responsibilities:Key Accountabilities:Develop creative ideas and product awareness in order to produce a creative and competitive product that will help grow the businessResearch competitive markets to identify new trends, fabrics, and techniquesEnsure that the product is consistent with market trends while maintaining the brand identity and business strategyConcept and execute silhouette, fit, and styling directionsSet seasonal fabric and trim direction, working with Product Development, Production, and Technical Design Teams regarding QA results and development issuesEnsure that production/sampling packages are accurate and complete Handoff to appropriate team members on timeWork with Designers to establish development specs, designate all materials, ornamentations, and details and work directly with HK office to maintain updated development statusManage and deliver based on seasonal calendars and meet all deadlinesMentor, coach, and counsel direct reports on performance expectationsEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in design or related field5+ years of experience in design or related fieldSkills and Behaviors:Must be innovative and have strong design sensibilityDemonstrated management experienceHigh proficiency in Illustrator and Kaleido; proficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong knowledge of vendorsExcellent negotiation skillsStrong presentation skills
