Position Summary

The Designer will be responsible to assist the design team in design, development and trend forecasting. Present seasonal inspiration and brand strategy to the Senior Director of Design.

Position Responsibilities-Essential

Design, Development and Trend Forecasting - Coordinate w/ Technical Design Team / MerchandiserConsider market trends and innovations in fabric technology, styling and construction methods to ensure program is aligned with set market objectives.

Monitor wear test and focus groups and provide insight as to how results may affect product specifications and future line development.

Develop Design Briefs and Line / Concept Boards - Coordinate w/ Sales and Marketing TeamManage seasonal line development and presentations including trend analysis, market analysis, color palette development, new style design development, fabric and trim development.

Communicate with Merchandiser and overseas offices to ensure timely development and production deliveries.

Follow production calendar to adhere to production and sampling timeline.

Input and maintain all product approvals, changes and revisions in documents shared with client, PM and overseas offices.

Establish Product and Material Reference LibraryUpdate and maintain approved products and materials libraries and archive sets as required.

Establish quality standards for all design materials utilized in line.

Final Product ApprovalCreate, maintaining and updating tech packs including technical sketches, BOM, measurements and sewing construction detail.

Utilize PLM to create all product tech packs.

Conduct fit session and communicate fit, construction and trim detail changes to overseas offices and clients.

Develop and approve process for fabrics, patterns, color, trims and accessories.

Approve process for fabric and garment performance testing.

Utilize PLM for product development collaboration and approvals with overseas offices.

Essential Skills and Experience

Garment construction knowledge.

A trained eye for proportion and balance as well as aesthetic detail.

Communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Effective public speaking, phone/email communication and presentation skills

Ability to prioritize activities and multi-task within a fast-paced office environment.

Proactive on problem solving and resolution oriented.

Ability to work in a cross functional team environment.

Ability to self-manage/work independently.

Proficiency in computer skills: Adobe Illustrator, Outlook, Excel, Word

Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience in fashion and technical design
