Director, Global People Communications - Opportunity & Belonging

The Director of Global People Communications is an action-oriented, results-driven leader responsible for leading the communications strategy for Walmart's Belonging, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts and Walmart.org's philanthropic work to create more opportunities for American workers everywhere.

This position is the internal and external communications lead for belonging work across the company. The ideal candidate exudes executive presence, has experience leading media relations and can provide thought leadership in an ever-evolving space. This role may be for you if you possess a highly proactive and agile mindset combined with strong leadership skills.

You'll make an impact by:

Building 360 comms plans that engage more than 2 million associates worldwide by lifting up their stories and amplifying the ways Walmart is creating a welcoming culture where everyone feels like they can belong and build a successful career.

Developing and executing comprehensive media strategies to strengthen Walmart's reputation and build trust as a competitive advantage; understanding societal trends and current events to identity proactive and reactive public relations opportunities; conducting media pitches; developing content for Walmart's owned channels; monitoring and analyzing media coverage; and identifying emerging digital and social media channels and content strategies to share our story externally.

Providing strategic counsel to senior leaders to support belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and advance business priorities through communication.

Serving as a company spokesperson and developing strong media relationships with national mainstream news, diverse outlets and People/HR trade publications.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent communication and media relations, while identifying opportunities for innovative storytelling through emerging channels.

Qualifications

6+ years of internal and external corporate communications or public relations experience.

Proven track record of developing and leading impactful communications strategies.

Strong relationship-building skills, with experience working cross-functionally to achieve business priorities.

Issues management and crisis communications experience.

Media relations experience.

Preferred qualifications

Experience supporting belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion communications.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00



Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
