Nisqually Indian Tribe is seeking a creative and passionate Entry-Level Animator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of animations that showcase their ability to bring stories to life.

GENERAL SUMMARYThe Character Animator will be responsible for collaborating with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Project Language Team to create engaging and visually appealing animation for Nisqually language animation video.This position ensures the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records, and promotes positive employee, customer, and community relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding customer service to fellow employees, customers, vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, and on occasion, later hours or weekend time may be required with project deadlines and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. •Create computer-generated graphics or animation for the Nisqually Language program.•Develop artistic design concepts that meet project needs with an emphasis on cultural preservation.•Work closely with project team and editors.•Participate in community events and workshops to share knowledge of art illustration and cultural experience.•Present graphics and animation to the Nisqually Language production team•Draw detailed or technical illustrations.•Construct distinctive physical objects for artistic and functional motion•Prepare production storyboards.•Provide feedback on content and suggest creative enhancements to the story.•Convert data among multiple digital or analog formats.•Adhere to deadlines and maintain a high level of professionalism throughout the project•Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience•Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as an Animator or a strong portfolio of animations•Experience adapting and evolving conceptual / creative skills to serve audience.•Experience designing unique, creative, and trending characters.•Experience and knowledge of character-based art processes and production.•Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•Degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, or a related field•Experience working with remote teams and communicating and collaborating across various disciplines.•Experience leading, pitching and collaborating with teams on projects.•Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, illustrator, and character animate•Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.•Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.

SUPERVISIONThis position does not supervise. This position will report to the Language Resource Center Manager.
