Marketing Manager

General Purpose:The Marketing Manager will lead the marketing team in all aspects of brand communications and outreach, including but not limited to developing and implementing the marketing plan and budget, managing team members to drive outcomes, analyzing and tracking reports, and overall project and team management. The Marketing Manager will implement and oversee strategies to assist Purgatory Resort, Hesperus and Purgatory Snowcat Adventures in meeting or exceeding business performance metrics and skier visit goals.The Marketing Manager works closely with directors and managers in Lodging, Food and Beverage, Village and Mountain teams to develop, implement and monitor revenue initiatives throughout the year. The Marketing Manager directly oversees three year-round team members, including the Brand Manager, Digital Content Coordinator, Marketing & Sales Assistant, as well as four seasonal employees: Snow Reporters and Mountain Dispatchers. This position also partners closely with the Wedding and Group Sales teams while overseeing relationships with third party agencies and resort partners.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership:Uphold Purgatory's mission and core values and communicate them clearly for integration into marketing plans and actions.Provide ongoing, cohesive leadership and strategic direction for the Marketing at the resort.Provide strategy and guidance on new business development and incremental revenue-driving programs for the resort.Provide consistent, clear, focused direction.Establish clear communication/PR goals and strategies to ensure positive and effective media coverage, both summer and winter, for the resort.Conduct regularly-scheduled, recurring team meetings and one-on-one meetings with each direct report.Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with the Resort's Director of Business Operations to set goals, review progress and develop/modify plans and strategies.Perform annual and/or periodic performance reviews and deliver regular performance coaching and reviews to direct reports.Participate in the recruitment, selection, ongoing management and coaching of marketing team managers and staff.Represent Purgatory in various community organizations and functions including serving on select boards and making presentations to local community stakeholders.Strategy:

Establish and implement marketing business plans, budgets, and initiatives to drive volume, yield, revenue and results across the resort. Manage according to plan, adjusting for market conditions.Create a budget and oversee department spending.Create seasonal marketing plans that support measurable growth.Develop strategic marketing programs targeted to specific customer segments to assure delivery of the right message to the right customer at the right time.Develop effective marketing and sales initiatives.Analyze effectiveness of various marketing outlets including digital, print, radio, TV, outdoor and grassroots.Collaborate with other businesses in the community to develop cooperative advertising/marketing campaigns.Maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders to understand timely marketing needs and overall business goals and initiatives.Set team goals and develop strategies.Manage paid media and agency relationships.Assist in the execution of campaigns and communications across all channels, including newsletters, website, social media, SMS and earned media.Measure and continue to optimize MROI.Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.Tactical Support:

Monitor progress toward shared and individual projects and goals.Monitor and maintain website content and accuracy including SEO - track website performance using GA4Oversee Purgatory's website, newsletter, social media, content, SMS, app and brand strategies.Serve as the first point of contact for the PR team and direct questions and information accordingly.Manage traditional and digital media buying through third-party ad agencies.Provide event and trade show support as needed.Manage/oversee the distribution of content across a variety of platforms including:Email marketingText marketingWebsite/AppSocial media (including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok)Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Hangouts)Digital signage

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

WordPress or other CMS and GA4.Email service and customer relationship management programs.Social media account management.Analytical skills to identify market trends.Time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize deadlines and adapt rapidly.A love for skiing or snowboarding is a must, and the ability to ski or snowboard is preferred.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Self-directed and a team player.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized.Writing, analytical, editing and researching skills.Recognize trends and stay ahead of them.Understanding of earned media buying strategies.Work on weekends/holidays and the ability to be flexible and on call.Ability to sit for prolonged periods; occasionally lift objects up to 25 pounds.Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field.4+ years of experience in marketing/sales/events.2+ years of leadership experience.Resort/hospitality experience preferred.A love for skiing and snowboarding is a must, and the ability to ski/snowboard is highly preferred.Working Environment/Physical Activities:

90% of the workday is spent indoors, in a normal office environment.Occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.Occasionally make trips to/from the mountain to fulfill job responsibilities.Constantly engage in ordinary conversation.Constant use of near acuity and keyboard typing.
