The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a Marketing Coordinator to join our Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Department.Examples of Duties

Develops, plans, organizes, promotes, and distributes communication through web, social media, print, and other communication tools for the Parks and Recreation divisionCoordinates, integrates, and monitors Parks and Recreation messaging via social media to inform and educate the publicManages all City of Aiken Recreation Department social media streams (posting, responding to comments, monthly report)Coordinates Parks and Recreation print and electronic publications to include designing, editing, printing, and distributing posters, brochures, flyers, and signsPerforms and manages graphic design development and maintenance and web content management to ensure the City is represented professionally and consistently in all materials and media outletsEvaluates and makes recommendations on the effectiveness of communication tools utilizing analyticsCreates and edits complete marketing campaigns, social media content, and other communications projectsMaintains multimedia design and technical quality by staying abreast of current technology and suggesting new trends as neededAssists with planning, logistics, coordination, and execution of events, ceremonies, and other Parks and Recreation activitiesCultivates community contacts and develops collaborative relationships with other City divisions, community members, and community representatives and groupsPromotes or markets planned programs and events for Parks and Recreation through social media, mass media, flyers, posters, and other venuesEnforces departmental rules and regulationsAttends workshops or seminars to improve marketing efforts for Parks and Recreation continuouslyMinimum Qualifications

Associates degree in marketing, journalism, graphic design, or other media-related degree and two years experience; or any related field preferred with three to five years of experience in combination with education and experience that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesProfessional level knowledge in marketing or media development preferredAnalytical skills necessary to plan, execute and evaluate public programs and special events. Use evaluation results to improve future endeavorsInterpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with staff, the general public, and mediaComputer skills including knowledge of graphic design, Canva, Adobe, and social media streamsProficient in marketing or community relations, exceptional writing skills, and detail-orientedLimited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects approximately 5-10% of work time. Physical capabilities necessary for standing, walking, sitting and exerting 10-20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objectsSupplemental Information

Retirement

Full-time employees participate in the Defined Contribution 401(a) Retirement Plan. After one year of employment, the employee will begin contributing 6% to the Plan, with the City making a matching 6% contribution. Employees are fully vested after 5 years of service.
