Position can be REMOTE: work from home, 50% travel to sites in the assigned Region of Washington, Oregon, Montana, California, and Arizona. Must live in assigned Region.Primary Duties/Responsibilities:Develops objectives for assigned area and ensures alignment with overall company strategies and objectives. Helps define and monitor Engineering policies and procedures for assigned area and synchronizes with project management and operations functions.Develops, implements and maintains engineering and technical standards, specifications and documentation for assigned area. Stays abreast of industry related standards and invokes these standards into the engineering process. Works with Quality team to develop and implement quality and testing requirements for assigned area.Participates in key engineering design reviews. Enforces conformance with defined requirements and ensures that corrective actions are completed as required.Ensures that all engineering deliverables for assigned projects are identified and prioritized in a project execution plan. Measures engineering's on-time delivery performance for critical deliverables. Helps define, implement and monitor measurements for continuous improvement of engineering performance and product cost reductions.Work Environment:Typically spends 75% of time in an operations environment and 25% of time in an office environment. Travels as needed.Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperatures and climatic conditions and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.Possible Work Hazards: May be exposed to possible operations hazards including dust, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, rotating machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training and/or 10 yrs experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Demonstrated knowledge of the standard practices, common tools, materials, occupational hazards and safety precautions of water / wastewater treatment plant and thorough working knowledge of NPDES regulations and permitting process.Over ten years progressive experience in design, project, construction, or management of wastewater treatment plants and ability to troubleshoot and solve water / wastewater treatment process/ operations problems.Supervisory experience (personnel and project supervision) with demonstrated ability to diagnose complex process problems and manage remedial action.Demonstrates ability to develop unique solutions for complex technical problems that may include the design of new systems or development of solutions having few or no precedents.Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to effectively manage resources (personnel, equipment, materials, facilities, funds and reputation).Demonstrated effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in order to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.Strong PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software and the ability to optimize the use of technology and systems to communicate, manage budget and to streamline processes and increase efficiency.Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.Required Certification/Licenses/Training:Highest level of certification as a water / wastewater treatment operator if required by site. If from another state, requires achieving certification within one year of appointment to Engineering Manager.Valid Driver's license and safe driving record.Physical Requirements:Amount of time spent - Standing 25%, Sitting 25%, Walking 50%.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.Is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and enter confined spaces.May be required to use the stairs, ladders, catwalks and supports at heights of 50 feet above the ground.May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Requires close visual observation to detect process non-conformance and machine malfunction.
