Job Description

The Senior Product Designer (Product Designer III) is a high-level performer with strong relationships and the ability to lead projects throughout the Digital Health Unit. The Senior Product Designer has a history of contributing to multiple shipped projects throughout their career.

As a Senior Product Designer, in the Digital Health unit, you will join our design team to drive outcomes by creating elegant user-centered product solutions. The ideal candidate is a critical contributor who will work across the entire design process including but not limited to, user research, user experience, and interface design of responsive web-based applications, embedded software applications, and digital services. Working directly with a product manager, engineering lead, and a team of engineers, this employee will work both strategically and hands-on to drive outcomes and launch zero-to-one digital solutions.

Job Duties

Work strategically as a partner with product management, engineering, and design leadership to execute the design of next generation products from 0-1.

Think big and explore divergent concepts while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards a vision and set of defined requirements.

Uses human-centered design methodologies to elevate requirements go beyond best practices to introduce innovative ideas for a solution.

Help develop and lead the process for a design problem/project/

Create low, medium, and high-fidelity wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes to communicate your work.

Lead workshops, brainstorming sessions, and other design thinking exercises with their direct squad, tribe leads, and with outside stakeholders in exploring a design/product problem.

Strong understanding of how people use the product/services you design and uses this knowledge to identify, define, and solve strategic problems with your squad and tribe.

Uses user research, product/business strategy, and success metrics to focus and reprioritize their squad’s or tribe’s efforts.

Actively contribute to weekly design critiques to share with and seek input from other designers.

Advocate for design by sharing your work with your squad, tribe leads, and external stakeholders.

Precisely articulates design rationale and goals, with your cross-functional partners, tribe leads, and external stakeholders.

Able to juggle 2-3 design problems/projects at a time.

Help lead innovation across the organization by driving the adoption of user-centered processes, methodologies, and tools.

Active in the hiring process, uses good judgement for evaluating talent and provides direct candidate feedback for hiring within their tribe.

Job Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in User Experience, Design, or related field required.

Minimum of 7 years of experience working in UX/product design field

Minimum of 7 years of experience designing user-centered responsive web applications

Minimum of 7 years of experience designing across multiple platforms (Web, Mobile, Embedded, etc.)

Minimum of 7+ years of experience working on design systems/design systems team.

Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.):

Travel required (U.S. and International)

Availability to attend meetings with team members spread out around the globe.

Preferred:

Expertise with current design and prototyping tools (Figma).

Strong skills in Design Systems, Facilitation, IA (Information Architecture), Prototyping, Service Design, Visual Design, or User Research.

Highly proficient with business strategy, innovation principals, qualitative research, stakeholder management, or systems thinking.

Excellent presentation and documentation skills.

Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team.

Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Medical technology or healthcare experience preferred, although not required.

Experience with Human Factors Engineering experience preferred, although not required.

Experience with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) preferred, although not required.

Familiarity with front-end programming languages such as HTML and CSS.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $101,523.00 - $142,132.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
