EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

PRIMARY DUTY:

The multimedia specialist is a key strategic member of the creative team for the Office of University Marketing and Communication at Northwest Missouri State University. The multimedia specialist is responsible for collaboration in conceptualizing, planning, capturing and producing professional quality photo and video assets for the various departmental needs of the university.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Maintain correct and consistent usage of Northwest Missouri State University brand and marketing standardsProduce engaging content and assist in pushing assets through available media vehicles (social media, website, advertising, etc. ) according to University Strategic Plan.Utilizes creativity, as well as knowledge of lighting, composition, camera/lens placement, and audio to create compelling contentComplete projects on time according to production scheduleMentor and supervise student employeesAssist Multimedia Services Manager in the following fields:Pre-ProductionCreative approach to upcoming projectsPreparation and maintenance of needed equipmentSet designLocation scouting and clearanceCoordination of crew and talentProductionOperation of digital cinema cameras and still camerasField and studio audio recordingSet up and transportation of lighting equipmentPost-ProductionData transfer, backup, and organizationImage selection, color processing and asset deliveryEditing multiple video drafts in Adobe PremiereUpdating progress in project management softwareApply editing revisions from Multimedia Services ManagerUpload and scheduling publication for videos across multiple platformsWriting video descriptions

REQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor's degreeCertification/License: Driver's licenseExperience: One to two years of professional experience in video production, photojournalism or related field

Skills:

The multimedia specialist must be a strong visual storyteller utilizing video, audio and still images all while showing creativity and good artistic judgement. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication skills and be highly organized. Must be a self-starter and have the able to mentor and train students how to execute tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's degreeExperience: 3-5 years of professional experience in video production, photojournalism or related field

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED:

Apple computers, Adobe CC and a variety of digital cinema and still cameras

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Some nights and weekends and limited travel are expected.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and mentor student employees.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift 50 pounds, work outdoors in all weather, good eyesight, accurate judge of color, lighting, exposure and focus.
