The Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing is responsible for shaping the innovation agenda for STAAR Surgical to deliver company's strategic goals and objectives; including establishing innovation roadmap, strategic plan and new product portfolio aligned to the current and future needs of the market. The incumbent will lead the implementation of company's strategic planning and execution processes to accelerate new product development and commercialization, guiding cross-functional team development of the projects in the portfolio; and driving strategic resource planning in conjunction with commercial and cross-functional leaders. This incumbent must be an exceptional business partner with an unparalleled ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify key unmet customer needs, strategic areas of opportunity and ensure flawless execution of the strategic plan. The successful GSM Vice President will have the ability to function at a broad-based, strategic level while being capable of driving detailed, tactical execution.RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role functions with a high amount of collaboration with cross-functional teams, to establish and deliver portfolio strategy and pipeline for the business. Key areas of focus include new product development, commercial innovation, launch strategy and execution for the platforms.Lead platform teams in the delivery of innovation roadmaps and pipelines for the organization. Establish and drive execution of strategic direction and define requirements for successful in-market commercial opportunities based on market analysis and strategy, business case development, concept development for new product positioning, demand forecasts and assumptions to drive regional business cases, etc.Ability to establish and execute portfolio strategic direction and define requirements; working with regional Commercial Leaders to ensure launch excellence; including new product positioning, strategic pricing, commercial considerations and demand forecasts.Lead the implementation of core planning processes; including strategic planning, agile phased gate approach to accelerate new product development and commercialization. Guide cross-functional team development of the projects in the portfolio; and drive strategic resource planning in conjunction with commercial and cross-functional leaders. Complete long-range planning processes, including long-range forecasting and strategic product planning.Build launch excellence capability for STAAR; including comprehensive launch planning, post-launch results tracking and continuous improvement. Advocate and voice for customer (Physicians, Technicians, and Distributors) in identifying unmet product and customer needs. Effectively identify research needs to validate unmet needs, opportunity areas, business potential. Develop financial models for new product projects (ROI) to guide trade-off decision making.Interface with Senior Leaders cross functionally to ensure flawless execution of the programs. Stakeholders including but not limited to R&D, Commercial Leaders, Regulatory Affairs and Quality leaders.Ongoing analysis of market to ensure understanding and response to competitive entrants; incorporating competitive strategies into new product development planning.Development of key business partnerships across the industry to further STAAR Surgical's priorities and growth across the ophthalmic space.Up to 30% domestic and international travel required.Perform other related duties as assigned by management.Position located in Lake Forest, CAEDUCATION & TRAININGBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. Advanced degree in a related field (MBA preferred).EXPERIENCEMinimum of 15 years of marketing is required with prior experience of leading teams.Global strategic marketing experience required with a proven record of strategic leadership including new product launch execution, integrated communications, strategic and business plan development; global product management experience. Experience in Ophthalmology required.Prior experience working with key partners including market research vendors, advertising agencies, etc.Experience in leading organizational change management to adapt to and reflect changing business landscape, organizational shifts, etc.Demonstrated ability to think strategically, query and analyze data and make data-driven decisions.A demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and senior management to impact decision-making and shape innovation based on unique customer insights, growth opportunities, and priorities. Prior experience working with Legal, Regulatory and Global partners is required.SKILLSProven skills at leading Marketing personnel across direct and indirect reporting lines to achieve business objectives in agile business environment across divergent global markets. Strong strategic acumen, quantitative/analytical skills with the ability to prioritize growth opportunities based on deep analysis, financial impact and results.Ability to interface with cross functional teams, partners and senior leadership to achieve strategic planning milestones.Highly motivated, organized and self-starting leadership; demonstrated ability to partner across departments, functions and regions to deliver key innovation plans and execution.Excellent power of influence and motivation to drive strategy alignment, plan execution and change management across an organization.Strong communication skills and cross-cultural sensitivity with experience presenting to executive teams as well as key stakeholders (customers, partners, etc.)Ability to assimilate information quickly, navigate complex business environments and ensure agile decision-making.
