Position Summary

The

Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

at the Universityof New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is expanding and seeks anoutstanding corneal surgeon to join our rapidly growing group.

Applicants must have completed an accredited cornea and externaldisease fellowship. Refractive surgery experience is welcome but not essential.The successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practiceat the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existingfaculty for call and medical student and resident education. Candidates areexpected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and researchin an academic setting. As part of theUNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a rewarding mix of tertiary andindigent care.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for position:Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency ProgramCompletion of AUPO-Certified Fellowship Programin CorneaBoard certified/eligible in OphthalmologyEligible for licensure in New MexicoEligible to work in the U.S.Preferred Qualifications for position:

Experience in clinical educationExperience in clinical researchA demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communitiesExperience in Cornea and External Diseases and Corneal SurgeryExperience in Complex cataract and anterior segment surgeryExperience in complex ocular surface surgery
