We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 18,000 girls and 10,000 adult members.

We are looking for a passionate Social Media and Marketing Specialist to join or Marketing and Communications team.

The position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications, assisting in the development and execution of promotional campaign strategies in alignment with Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey's goals and priorities. The ideal candidate will be an experienced social media content developer, strong writer, and team player, who is creative and very comfortable working in a variety of communications platforms and apps (digitally-savvy). Candidate should enjoy working in an environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community-oriented. They must be able to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and have strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

The Social Media & Marketing Specialist, working with the Graphics & Digital Content Specialist, is responsible for implementing marketing tactics and maintaining Girl Scout brand standards in all communications. The specialist will work with the Director of Marketing & Communications and a variety of departments to pull together content for our council's marketing efforts, and promote this content through our social media, email marketing, and public relations channels.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Social Media:

Show creativity and documented immersion in social media. Write, prepare, and schedule social media content for a variety of social media campaigns across accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok for the council and its summer camps, in collaboration with the Graphics & Digital Content Specialist.Demonstrate winning social media customer service techniques.Photo document/live stream council events and produce Media Team reels, as requested.Evaluate and refresh dynamic digital content with a focus on embedding principles of diversity and inclusion, to meet the needs of current and prospective council stakeholders.Gather data for a variety of status reports and dashboards to help evaluate engagement with and results of promotional campaign performance and communicate insights and findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Marketing & Public Relations:

Maintain and implement a social media, email marketing, and public relations schedule to streamline and coordinate promotional campaigns year-round.Utilize Salesforce Marketing Cloud to develop and deliver targeted marketing emails and customer journey automations, including creation of the council's bi-weekly eNewsletter. (Must be proficient in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Journey Builder and Taxi, or willing to work towards becoming an expert in this platform with training.)Support our Public Relations efforts by curating content and developing press releases, pitch letters, and articles for distribution to news media outlets.Help coordinate Girl Scout and staff public appearances.Be a part of training and working with our Media Team of Girl Scouts.Work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders to help develop advertising and promotional content for our website, print materials, videos, various digital platforms, and events.Write, copyedit, and prepare original content for uploading to the website in collaboration with the Graphics & Digital Content Specialist.Possess the ability to work under pressure and handle a variety of confidential matters.Other Duties Assigned:

As is the case with all our roles at the GSNNJ council, we are a small and passionate team of lifelong learners who jump in to support our staff across departments. As opportunities present, we expect our staff at all levels to participate in organizational initiatives and support our mission of serving girls. All staff are required to promote and assist with council-wide programs, activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors.Requirements

Bachelor's degree in marketing communications preferred or equivalent experience.Three (3) years of promotional social media experience for an organization or business preferred. Experience utilizing a social media management tool such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social is a plus.Strong attention to detail. Excellent communication, proofreading, and editing skills.Exceptional time management and capability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, Girl Scouts, and support vendors.Ability to demonstrate proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, and other web, email, social media, and CRM platforms.Basic knowledge of Salesforce (or open to learning).Basic knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or other email automation systems; advanced knowledge preferred). Experience with creating email automations using Salesforce Journey Builder and Taxi is a plus.Purchase of an Adult Membership in Girl Scouts is required upon employment and annually thereafter. A uniform dress code must be adhered to for formal occasions and events.Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.Valid driver's license, reliable automobile, and auto insurance.Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend meetings during the day/evening/weekend.

This is a hybrid role, with two days in our Riverdale, NJ office, and three days working remotely. Additional days may be required in the office or to come to meetings as needed.
