Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Alumni Relations, the Associate Director provides specialized fundraising and alumni engagement communications to advance the philanthropic goals and priorities of Pacific. The Associate Director plays an important role in developing the messages and channels used to communicate with donors and alumni. The Associate Director promotes strategic messaging through various channels including websites, email, print and digital communications.

Essential FunctionsWorking with the Senior Associate Vice President for Development, helps execute development communication efforts encompassing fundraising initiatives, stewardship, and alumni engagement priorities across all three campuses.Develops and manages communications projects for fundraising campaigns, Pacific Gives, annual and major gift fundraising, alumni relations, corporate/foundation relations, and other targeted fundraising priorities.Collaborates with vendors, Strategic Communications, and key stakeholders across the university on design, copy and messaging needs to include photography, giving sites, video production, event collateral, brochures, and digital communications.Collaborates with gift officers and deans to create proactive communications and marketing materials to support school/unit fundraising goals.Working with development leadership, designs and/or edits fundraising proposals, solicitation materials, and alumni engagement marketing materials to produce consistent and high-quality publications.Successfully utilizes various fundraising and stewardship tools including Thankview, Scalefunder, NXT, etc,Participates in editorial discussions and writing assignments for university and development/alumni relations publications.Manages the University Development website and ensures adherence to brand standards.Conceives and oversees the development and deployment of videos and other media to support fundraising, donor relations and alumni engagement needs.Develops and maintains a comprehensive Development and Alumni Relations communications calendar.Manages metric development and tracking for development communications in support of division goals/KPIs.Manages and ensures production schedules and timelines are met.Organizes and completes multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail. Manages time and priorities to meet deadlines.Works with printers and other outside vendors, as needed, to produce materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.Performs miscellaneous communications-related duties as assigned or requested by Division senior leadership.University of the Pacific recognizes that diversity, equity, and inclusion is foundational to the success of our valued students and employees. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.Three (3) years of experience in nonprofit or cause-related marketing and communications with defined and trackable outcomes.Preferred Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:

Master's degree in related field.Five (5) years of experience in nonprofit or cause-related marketing and communications with defined and trackable outcomes.Excellent organization and time management skills.Have a command of both strategic and tactical communications approaches and an understanding of tailoring compelling messaging to various audiences.Outstanding writing, editing and communication skills.Understanding of fundraising and alumni relations programs such as annual fund, alumni engagement, major gifts, stewardship, planned giving, and capital and comprehensive fundraising campaign communications.Demonstrated expertise in the production of web and social media content, email marketing, brochures, direct mail campaigns, videos, and other promotional toolsPortfolio showing examples of all the work product above.The successful candidate will be a well-rounded and experienced marketing-communications professional with attention to detail and a track record of running successful and motivational marketing campaigns and drafting specific communications pieces.Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment.Work performed during standard business hours. May work outside regular hours to meet business needs.

Hiring Range$70,000 - $83,400 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
