The VALRC's mission is toequip the field of adult education and literacy with essential skills andresources through effective training, publications, curriculum design, andprogram development through an equity mindset. We do this by ensuring that thefield of adult education and literacy has the best available tools and trainingto help adult learners build a better future. The Communications and Assistancerole is foundational to that mission.Theselected candidate will serve as the first line of communication and supportfor the state's field of adult education by providing high quality customerservice through email, phone, and social media. This role also supports theVALRC by assisting with event planning and providing technical support for theonline courses and training events that we deliver. This is a virtual positionthat will require occasional participation in in-person meetings and events.Key responsibilities of the Communications and Assistance Specialist roleinclude:

Provide high quality customer service through phone and email communications.Serve as the primary contact for the VALRC main phone line, the GED® test help line, and the VALRC general email account.Organize phone and email communications in a weekly informal report to the VALRC specialists.Provide technical assistance for our online offerings, including monitoring registrations for courses, assisting trainers during synchronous online meetings and webinars, and supporting online facilitated courses by monitoring attendance and participation, in collaboration with the VALRC specialists.Collaborate with the VALRC team to create reports on interactions with the funded programs it serves, including data on participants and requests received through email and phone communications.Support VALRC's registration and evaluationprocesses by collecting and organizing participant information.Assist in planning and organizing in-person events, including monitoring registration information and assisting with event logistics, such as procurement of space, equipment, and catering.Maintain open communication with the VALRC team and attend regular check-ins or meetings as required.Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Superior customer support skills.Excellent written andoral communication.Strong organizational skills with ability to function independently.Demonstrated experience in fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so.Demonstrated ability to operate and learn technologies that are necessary for the Center's work, including navigating email systems, learning management systems, and collaborative working documents.Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with adult education and literacy programsExperience working in an academic settingPostsecondary degreeProficiency in spoken Spanish
