The NBCUniversal team is looking for a Director of User Experience Research to execute the strategic product research vision for Fandango based in Los Angeles, aligning the user research roadmap to organizational objectives as well as solving for immediate product and design needs. This person will collaborate with cross functional partners across the Product, Design, Data Science, and Analytics teams, and will lead the research initiatives that help the Fandango team validate and evaluate features as well as the foundational research that helps define our future product roadmaps. Reporting into the Vice President of User Research and Consumer Insights, the Director will lead a small team of user researchers as they represent the voices of our users, influencing senior stakeholders and decision makers across the organization.

You will join this team as a thoughtful team lead, manager, expert researcher, and product expert. You will be responsible for guiding the careers of your team members and working closely with them to help them realize both their immediate goals and their full potential as researchers.As Fandango’s Director of User Research, you will advocate for both the users of our products and for your team. As a researcher experienced in mixed methods, you will field both qualitative and quantitative studies, including interviews, diary studies, surveys, and ethnographies while collaborating with our Analytics and Data Science teams to marry qualitative, quantitative, and behavioral data to dimensionalize the needs of our users.You will serve not just as a strong lead in the execution of UX research, but also in the business on NBCUniversal’s direct to consumer products — balancing user insights with the business acumen that helps to build excellent products. You’ll collaborate with partners and other leaders across the organization to ensure that we are creating experiences that resonate with consumers as our brand and products continue to evolve to meet user needs.Responsibilities:Leading a high-performing team of user researchers, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching while setting new standards for methodological rigor and research excellenceFostering a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive research culturePartnering with stakeholders across the organization to define and prioritize research initiatives that align with business objectives and center user needsOwn and drive the User Research roadmap, ensuring stakeholder and product needs are met and well aligned to achieve organizational KPIs and goalsVendor selection and managementCommunicating research findings effectively, translating complex insights into actionable recommendations for key decision-makersInfluencing strategic and tactical product roadmaps with cross-functional leadershipManaging complex schedules across multiple projects to ensure on time deliveryDriving strategic initiatives to inform and shape research programsCollaborating closely with cross-functional leaders in Product, Design, Marketing, and AnalyticsConnecting with other Research colleagues across NBCUniversal to share insights as well as lessons learned in conducting researchStaying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously evolving our research methodologies and approachesMinimum Qualifications:10 years of experience executing applied research5 years of experience managing, leading, and growing a team of user researchersBachelor’s degree in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related fieldExpertise in quantitative and qualitative research study designExpertise across a number of qualitative and quantitative research methods — including surveys, digital ethnographies, focus groups, etc.Familiarity with behavioral user analyticsExperience leading collaborative efforts across disciplinesConsumer product research experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent data storytelling and presentation skillsExtensive experience driving strategic product value through stakeholder influencePreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree or PhD in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related fieldExpertise in group moderation and facilitation10 years of experience conducting UX research on productsExperience working with executive leadershipExperience driving projects in a large, matrixed organization
