College of Health Professions and Sciences:The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness - and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers accredited programs in athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, and social work. CHPS also offers one of UCF's largest majors, health sciences, as well as popular programs in sport and exercise science within the field of kinesiology. Through coursework, field experience, and inter-professional education, our students develop high-demand skills in healthcare and cultural competency for working with varied populations.

The Opportunity :The UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences is seeking well-qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist II position. This position is a professional writer and storyteller who helps discover and disseminate news about the College of Health Professions and Sciences that promotes the college as a leader in innovation, teaching, clinical practice, and community service. The successful candidate works with students, faculty, and staff to develop engaging content for news sites, digital newsletters, social media platforms, and other marketing materials. Responsibilities:

Write news stories, news briefs and feature pieces highlighting the college's academic excellence, student success, research, innovation, partnerships and clinical care.

Conduct interviews with students, faculty, and staff to aid in preparing impactful content for the college's news sites, digital newsletters, and other marketing materials.

Conduct research as needed on healthcare education and workforce trends to incorporate a contemporary perspective in news pieces.

Serve as a copy editor for college publications and marketing materials to include annual reports, digital newsletters, email campaigns, brochures and flyers.

Assist with planning and execution of special events, media visits, and college-wide meetings.

Assist in developing engaging and relevant content for the college's social media platforms. Work with Communications team members to create compelling visual marketing and social media assets, including photos, short videos, and graphics.

Minimum Qualifications :Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge of AP style.

Experience with creating and editing graphics in Canva.

Demonstrated writing and editing skills.

The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:

Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

Basic photo editing experience.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
