Salary Range : Up to $42,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours : up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Function : To develop and maintain a quality marketing program for the School of Music.

Scope : Responsible for marketing assigned programs. Develops, enhances, and implements new and existing marketing approaches for attracting visitors, stakeholders, and prospective students to various performances and programs.

Core ResponsibilitiesProposes, evaluates and coordinates the implementation of marketing, community relations, and recruitment strategies. Researches new advertising, marketing, and community relations approaches; proposes program design.Ensures program needs are met through resource planning, tracking, and management. Resources include budget allocation, staff, volunteers, interns, work-study participants, supplies, and facilities.Plans, schedules, and coordinates activities in assigned programs.Designs, produces and distributes marketing and community relations materials, including the monthly e-zine Cadenza. Coordinates promotional areas of department websites. Works with the COLFA Communications team on all new design and website content.Engages in editorial writing for the school website along with submissions to university news outlets such as UTSA Today, Sombrilla Magazine, and the COLFA website.Maintains tracking and reporting systems to monitor program progress and results.Interacts with university departments, guests, prospective students, and other stakeholders to respond to inquiries, provide information, coordinate resources, and promote marketing, community relations, and recruitment programs.Supervises and trains staff, including assistants, volunteers, interns, and work-study participants.Aids in the coordination and management of special events as assigned.Attends relevant committee meetings including those concerning UTSA Arts.Performs other duties as assigned.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution.Three (3) years of experience in marketing, promotions, or public relations.Experience with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.Demonstrated effective graphic design skills utilizing the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, focusing on InDesign and Photoshop or Lightroom.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.Independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.Tact, diplomacy, and discretion are required in all matters.

Preferred QualificationsSupervisory and budget management experience.Advanced knowledge of university organizational structure, policies, rules, and procedures.

Working ConditionsOffice environment.Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands:Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will require working both

remotely in Texas and on campus

(approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
