Essential Functions

Job Summary

Function:

Provides instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of academic courses specifically in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, educational programs, and staff and faculty training and development.

Scope:

Works with experts, subject matter experts, and staff to provide support in online design and development.

Core ResponsibilitiesProvides instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of academic courses, specialized educational programs, and staff and faculty training and development.Collaboratively plans, designs, and develops online and/or hybrid courses, modules, learning objects, learning materials, asynchronous and synchronous learning activities, and other related materials for the university academic community.Coordinates instructional design projects from inception to completion, document those projects and processes, measure results, and write reports. Ensures projects meet accessibility and university design for learning standards for quality and innovation.Designs, develops and implements evaluation procedures to assess the effectiveness of using technologies in teaching and learning processes.Manages the coordination and delegation of course design efforts and provide the necessary guidance for project completion.Collaborates with faculty and subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish course goals, develop course topics, define learning outcomes, and create learning objectives.Performs a needs assessment and audience analysis to determine the best methodologies for course development. Provides best practices and guidelines to align course objectives, assessments, and activities.Recommends effective and creative uses of technologies to enhance instruction and create new learning environments.Provides technology support for online teaching and learning tools used by faculty and students.Provides and develops training and training materials including online tutorials and other multimedia materials to assist faculty with remote teaching, online teaching, and learning tools.Conducts course quality reviews, provides recommendations for course improvement, and promotes good practices of teaching and learning with technology.Stays current with trends and emerging technologies in teaching and learning.Performs other duties as assigned.

Periodic:Participates in committees and task forces.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution.One (1) year of experience in online course design and development.Experience teaching, designing/developing, or facilitating STEM courses.Willingness to explore the use of technology and innovative learning and teaching strategies to advance student-centered outcomes in online, hybrid, and tech-enhanced courses.Experience using a learning management system such as Canvas, or equivalent.Knowledge of HTML and CSS.Experience using web conferencing tools such as Zoom, WebEx, and Teams.Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, and other e-learning authoring programs e.g., Articulate Storyline, SoftChalk, Captivate, etc.Microsoft Office Experience: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.Ability to work well in a team environment or individually as needed.Strong presentation skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree from an accredited institution.STEM background.Experience using technologies to design student-centered learning materials in a digital learning environment.Experience with tools designed specifically for science, technology, engineering, or math courses.Consulting with faculty about teaching with technology in online, hybrid, and face-to-face environments, remote teaching, or a related substitution.University/College teaching experience.Experience designing and facilitating faculty development programs.Experience in designing and developing micro-credential and/or continuing education courses.Ability to create and review STEM content.Knowledge of ADA compliance, Fair Use guidelines, and the TEACH Act.Knowledge of learning theories, instructional theories, instructional design theory and practice, and best practices in teaching and learning.Knowledge of HTML 5 and web page editors.

Working Conditions

Working Environment:Office environment.Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands:Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will be primarily located
