343 Industries is looking for a Senior Technical Artist that can drive technical excellence for Halo’s vast array of environments. Working closely across projects and multi-discipline groups, you’ll specialize in partnering with our world building teams to ensure content is created in a performant and efficient manner.

You will work with the art team to develop technical solutions, tools, reporting and automation to create performant gameplay spaces of many sizes, and to many levels of performance requirements. You will expand your knowledge and skills at solving complex technical problems and enjoy deep collaboration and responsibilities across the environmental focus tech art space. Roles at our studio are flexible, and you can work from home up to two days a week, Thursdays and Fridays, in this role.

Responsibilities

Debug problems related to level creation, such as content,lighting and shading issues, and support the world team

Manage game performance and memory usage and generate reports

Work with artists to identify and solve technical problems with new or existing tools

Work creatively and technically in both DCC and game engine workflows.

Develop technical and creative solutions to solve performance and production issues while executing artistic and game vision.

Defining and documenting technical standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 4+ years technical art or industry-related design experience

OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 3+ years technical art or industry-related design experience

OR equivalent experience.

4+ years experience using related software and packages (e.g., Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Creative Suite, SideFX Houdini, Zbrush, Substance Suite).

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years experienceworking with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, Frostbite, proprietary engines)

Experience shipping 2+ games end to end.

Demonstrating your past success to work effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders, managing conflicting priorities.

Ability to learn skills ad hoc to support disciplines across the art team.

Problem solving skills.

Technical Art IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
