Under limited supervision, the General Manager plans, directs, and manages the day-to-day operations of the University's radio stations, ensuring compliance with University and Federal regulations. This role involves advanced management functions to ensure the effective development and achievement of station goals.

Read on to fully understand what this job requires in terms of skills and experience If you are a good match, make an application.This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Responsibilities:Lead Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day management of the radio station, ensuring compliance with University and Federal regulations.Programming Excellence: Create and deliver a coordinated mix of music, news, sports, and special topics programming. Host a daily morning show and other locally produced content.Policy Development: Develop and update departmental policies and procedures to maintain high standards and operational efficiency.Strategic Planning: Serve on the radio station’s advisory board and collaborate with Marketing and Communications to enhance the station’s identity, branding, and marketing strategies.Promotions and Announcements: Lead the creation of station promotions, public service announcements, and underwriting announcements. Manage purchasing decisions for programming and equipment.Goal Setting and Fundraising: Plan and implement station goals and objectives. Oversee research and reporting of grant opportunities and develop a robust fundraising program to ensure 10% annual growth.Team Leadership: Direct, supervise, schedule, and train station personnel, students, and volunteers to foster a productive and collaborative environment.Cross-Media Collaboration: Build a cohesive alliance under the KPVU-Media Umbrella, working with The Panther Newspaper, Panther Podcast, and KPVU-TV. Utilize the TV Studio to generate revenue through programming and advertising.Educational Integration: Ensure the radio station serves as a practical lab for the Communications, Journalism, Radio/Television/Film, and Audio Engineering curriculums.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Five years of related experience in radio as a music or program director.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of non-commercial, small market radio. Knowledge of various music formats and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations. Knowledge of digital audio applications.Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong marketing and promotional abilities and on-air communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Communications, Audio Engineering, or Radio/Television/Film is highly desirable.Special Requirements:Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience.
