The CAD Designer is responsible for redrawing solid models and drawings for the detention locks and other products as deemed necessary by management. This position will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and shop personnel to professionally design, document and verify parts and assemblies for document conversion. This position requires knowledge and understanding of engineering and drafting concepts, as well as mechanical aptitude and strong critical thinking skills.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:Redraw detailed design drawings and 3-D models for mechanical equipment, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, Inventor.Interpret existing PDF, Inventor drawings and specifications to create submittal and in house fabrication drawings.Data entry to create ECN and Proto-Types in current ERP software.Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, Client out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.Position instructions and comments onto drawings.Client out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components and assemblies.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job function. Typically acquired through:2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or in the design of mechanical componentsExperience in designing various manufacturing fabrication techniques, such as sheet metal parts, welded assemblies, machined parts, plastic molded parts, Electrical drawings, and schematics.2 or more years of experience with 3D CAD programs such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD

Ability to work effectively with others and to be flexible in work assignments and assimilate and understand information in a consistent manner.Ability to create accurate and timely models and drawing documents.Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.Ability to perform effectively on various computer platforms.Ability to learn new software tools in the development of new processes.Ability to work independently on several projects at one time.Ability to recognize and prioritize time sensitive issues.Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include lifting or other physical activity.

WORKING CONDITIONS:Primary work assignment is in an office environment (100% of time) with occasional fabrication and lock shop visits on an as-needed basis.
