Main Purpose of Job

MD THINK is seeking a seasoned UX Designer to support the Consumer Portal redesign work. This role requires six (6) years of experience in designing web applications, mobile applications, and cross-browser compatible responsive consumer experiences

POSITION DUTIES

Designs a responsive mobile first consumer experience for unified benefits. Oversees the end-to-end design process, from ideation to implementation, ensuring the highest quality in design execution. Ensures work is delivered in accordance with set guidelines and appointed design system. Documents and iterates process and practices as the project evolves in order to spread successful practices to other projects.

Reviews, evaluates and determines feasibility of requests for computer information system services, balancing business and user needs. Uses understanding of mobile design patterns, usability and design principles, and the capabilities/limitations of a platform technology to guide design decisions.

Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences that are measured and tied to key KPIs. Develops designs based on requirements and industry best practices, as well as compliance with regulations on accessibility and plain language. Uses high and low fidelity design tools, deliver the appropriate interface designs including prototypes, mockups, wireframes, user stories, and user journeys, optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.

Prepares qualitative and quantitative reports documenting computer information services, activities and projects. Presents project plans and progress to stakeholders at multiple levels, and facilitate productive meetings that address challenges and create alignment. Collaborates with design leadership to standardize design processes, advocating for the adoption of the design system and promoting a culture of high quality and consistency. Implements and manages standards and procedures to ensure consistent design and research practices across projects. Makes strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and forthcoming functions and features that maintain a consistent user interface across all product offerings.

Takes a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate the design solutions. Drives and participates in usability testing, and spreads knowledge of and involvement with UX research across teams .Collaborates with other team members and department stakeholders including Product Managers, Engineering, PMO and Client Support. Mentors, provide constructive feedback and guide the development of other designers. Facilitates alignment and integration of the design system across various product teams, including desktop, web, mobile, console, and PC, promoting cross-team collaboration and efficiency

Meets with upper-level management, vendors, users and other information technology administrators to discuss and resolve computer information system design issues. Clearly and effectively communicates design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients, and translate between various stakeholder perspectives to build alignment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years of experience in designing web applications, mobile applications and cross-browser compatible responsive consumer experiences.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Five years of experience must include collaborating with other team members and department stakeholders including Product Managers, Engineering, PMO and Client Support.

Two years experience facilitating alignment, working with complex business requirements or rules, and integration of consistent design practices across various product teams, and promoting cross-team collaboration and efficiency.

Two years experience designing to meet accessibility and plain language regulations.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
