Our mission and vision is to celebrate the reconciling work of Jesus Christ (John 17:23), build grace-filled disciples (John 15:8), and serve Pen Lucy, Baltimore and the world (Acts 1:8).

FCF is seeking a Music Director to provide musical leadership for excellent, God-glorifying, blended worship experiences which help fulfill the vision and mission of FCF. We believe that worship is the central and supreme activity of believers to God. We seek a service that will: glorify God, be Christ-centered, edify believers, and welcome visitors. The Music Director provides critical leadership in structuring a service in alignment with these values.

We are seeking a spiritual and organizational leader who will oversee the music ministry and coordinate across the worship ministries at FCF. This includes but is not limited to helping to plan, direct and lead our weekly community worship, coaching and nurturing worship team members and volunteers, and working with various groups throughout the church to use music and the arts in worship. The Music Director will work under the leadership of the Senior Pastor to ensure a well organized and meaningful worship service each week.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesEnhance the corporate worship experience at FCF through musical worship that blends gospel, contemporary Christian, and classical/traditional genres

Select songs for each serviceLead weekly vocal and band rehearsals to prepare the music team for SundayDirect the music team (instrumentalists and vocalists) during pre-service rehearsalWork with other worship service contributors including worship leader, teaching elder, offertory musicians, sound and multimedia teams, and church administrator with accountability to the Senior PastorStay up to date with U.S. trends in worship music and various worship styles, continuously exploring new ideas for corporate worshipMeet as needed with Senior Pastor and other leaders for review, planning and to raise and address relevant topics, as neededScreen and select Sunday worship team membersAssist in the planning and execution of special services (e.g., Easter, Christmas Eve) and other non-weekly congregational gatherings (e.g., weddings, funerals) as neededOversee worship team administrative responsibilities including coordination of volunteer scheduling and populating weekly worship details (song information, special music, etc)Maintain FCF’s compliance with CCLI requirements

Qualifications & SkillsA clear testimony of mature faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to follow Him as LordLive a life of consistent prayer and Bible study as an example worthy of emulationExcellent instrument (preferably piano) and/or vocal skillsExperience participating as a member of a worship team and a sense of calling to serve in this kind of ministry rolePossess the musical capability and leadership skills to teach and train worship team volunteersCommitment to support the mission, vision, and values of FCF through membership or pursuit thereofCommitment to a high standard of doctrine through affirmation of the FCF Statement of BeliefsCommitment to a high level of leadership character through affirmation of the FCF Leadership CriteriaExhibits a spirit of cooperation and teamwork and is teachable

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience in leading vocalists and instrumentalists on a worship teamProficiency in a broad range of styles, with special emphasis on gospel musicGeneral familiarity with audio-visual equipment setup and operation, or a willingness to learn

Compensation & Other InformationThis position will require 20 - 30 hours a week with compensation to be commensurate with experienceThe Music Director will report directly to the Senior Pastor with additional accountability to the Session, including a formal review and compensation discussion which will be completed on an annual basisThe Music Director may take vacation for up to 4 Sunday worship services in a calendar year (NOTE: Unused paid time off at the end of the year will not roll over to the next year or be paid as additional compensation)The Music Director position does not require ordination and is therefore open to both men and women
