Primary Purpose :

Responsible for leading the development, coordination, and submission of ARUP’s most complex and strategic proposals. Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, leadership, and internal stakeholders to develop compelling responses to retain and win new business. Writes and reviews proposals to ensure they are top quality, organized logically, and written in adherence to corporate standards. Uses excellent project and time management skills to meet Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements. As the senior writer on the team, performs most tasks independently and with minimal supervision and is a mentor to others on the team.

Essential Functions :

Manage the proposal process from start to finish, including identifying requirements, creating/writing content, compiling supporting documents, packaging and submitting final proposals.

Facilitate meetings with leadership, sales, internal stakeholders, and subject matter experts to translate requirements into proposal responses.

Craft concise and persuasive content that effectively communicates our value proposition and differentiators.

Ensure all proposals comply with client requirements and align with corporate messaging and style guide / branding policy.

Manage multiple proposals simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.

Work with the proposal team and Marketing designers to develop visually compelling graphics.

Research bid-specific, client-specific, or industry-specific information to enhance proposal responses.

Compile and submit questions to clarify proposal requirements, content, and/or deadlines.

Provide project oversight, mentoring, and copy-editing for other writers on the team.

Conduct substantive editing of proposal responses to enhance coherence and strengthen arguments.

Ensure required approvals and reviews are completed, including thorough editing of final documents for accuracy, cohesiveness and organization of responses, content flow, and grammatical accuracy.

Develop and maintain a repository of proposal templates, boilerplate content, market intel, past performance, management plans, and other resources to streamline the proposal development process.

Conduct post-submission debriefing and analyze proposal outcomes to capture customer feedback, areas for improvement, and best practices.

Exercise considerable judgement and maintain confidentiality.

Physical and Other Requirements :

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

Color Vision: Perception of and ability to distinguish colors.

Stationary Position: Must be able to remain in a stationary (standing/seated) position majority of the time.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelor's Degree or better

Experience

Required

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field

Five years of experience writing proposals in healthcare, technical, or related industry

Extensive knowledge of the English language and technical vocabulary

Outstanding project management skills, including ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or oversight in a deadline-driven environment

Proficiency with desktop publishing and proposal writing software
