The Innovation Principal will be a member of a multi-skilled team that helps solve some of the most complex problems in healthcare. The Innovation Principal assists with the development of strategies that are of high institutional value. The Innovation Principal will work with senior level stakeholders to better understand and help lead the vision for solving high priority issues that the institution faces today to better enable MD Anderson to meet its mission. The Innovation Principal will be a member of the Innovation Center and will be expected to contribute to the future vision of the Innovation Center's strategic plan and will be critical in evangelizing innovation throughout MD Anderson.

The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.SYNTHESIZE INFORMATION Synthesizes information gathered from qualitative and quantitative research to develop deliverables on large/complex projects. This information is then used to develop experience maps, wireframes, interaction guides, user interface guides, and detailed documentation.

LEADING PROJECTS May conduct analyses, interview clients and their customers, plan and facilitate workshops, translate conclusions into recommendations, or help design and implement large-scale organizational change programs.

DESIGN RESEARCH Responsible for executing upon research methods and strategies within a cross-functional innovation team. This position must have the ability to discover customer and business needs through contextual inquiries, and generative and quantitative research, and identify solutions to meet those needs.

CUSTOMER EVANGELIST The ability to build consumer empathy within a cross-functional team and emotionally connect to the lives of the people we serve.

STRATEGIC THINKING/LEADERSHIP Understands the healthcare environment and challenges the institution will face with ongoing healthcare reform. Can solve even the toughest and most complex of problems; is a quick study of the new and different; adds personal wisdom and experience to come to the best conclusion and solution, given the situation; uses multiple problem-solving tools and techniques. Sees multiple futures; has broad interests and knowledge; is creative, a visionary and can manage innovation.

Education Bachelor's Level Degree

Preferred Education Master's Level Degree or PhD

Experience Required Eight years of experience in digital innovations, product research, product development, product analysis, human-centered design, a related design discipline (e.g. UX design, experience design, service design, graphic design), a related research discipline (e.g. design research, sociology, psychology), strategic business consulting, marketing communications, or related field. With preferred degree, six years of experience in one of the above mentioned areas.
