As an Associate Designer, you will work closely with the Director and category Designers to execute the design and development of textile products for the West Elm brand. Reporting into the Senior Designer, you will be responsible for helping to develop seasonal concepts and ensuring all product development deadlines and key calendar dates are met.Responsibilities:Assist category Designers into researching new ideas, fabrications, and materialsPresent ideas and design concepts to Design Director and category designersWork proactively according to development calendar to stay ahead of timelinesManage all technical specifications and communication with vendors including making comments on samples, and sending product approvals in PLMCreate and maintain visual line list decks and presentation decksMaintain and organize development samples both physically and digitallyConsistently research industry trends to feed design inspiration and new collection developmentCreate and maintain digital concept and presentation boardsUnderstanding of fabric qualities and constructions, techniques, and how they affect price points, look, and end useRegularly shop competitors to keep abreast of trends

Criteria:

MUST provide Portfolio link (including password) on resume - or link to PDF work samples with applicationDegree in Textile Design or related fieldMinimum 3 years of design work experience, preferably in-home furnishings or textilesExperience developing product directly with factories is a plusMust be highly efficient in Adobe Creative SuiteMust be skilled at CAD. And able to manipulate artwork, mockups and generate colorwaysPassionate about design, art, color & textiles with a strong sense of colorAbility to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environmentAbility to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changeExtremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented - excellent calendar adherence and ownershipExcellent time management and communication skillsUnderstanding and enthusiasm for the West Elm brandThis role requires being onsite in the New York office

Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
