We're an early stage, funded startup working towards our v1 product.About the roleWe are expanding our team and are seeking a highly skilled UI / UX Designer to play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our product and our brand. This role is a combination of UI / UX design and graphic design. You will be responsible for defining and evolving the user experience and design language across Root's client applications and websites.ResponsibilitiesYou'll design the user interface and user flow in our client applications and do graphic design as neededDesign responsive UIs for Root's customer-facing desktop, mobile and web applicationsCreate a design system to be used by external developers to support an app storeCreate graphics for corporate branding, developer portal, and documentationWhat does success look like?Users love the Root client applications that you designYour UI/UX experiences are intuitive, usable, and accessible; users rarely need the docsYour design system is easy to follow; third-party developers find it useful and flexibleYour graphics are clear and effective; users recognize the Root brand in all your workQualificationsFive+ years of demonstrated experience as a UI/UX designer for both mobile and desktop applicationsDesigned high volume, consumer-facing applicationsExpertise in responsive design and UI/UX best practicesExperience designing cross-platform applicationsProven experience as a graphic designer with a strong portfolioUI/UX skillsResponsive UI design across mobile, desktop, and webMulti-page UI with best-practice navigationAccessible designMulti-region localizationGraphic design skillsUI/UX mock-ups and wireframesGraphic design tools such as FigmaIconography, typography, and color theoryConceptual diagrams to support documentationGeneral skillsAnalytical skills to define a problem, identify solutions, and recommend a course of actionCommunication skills to educate others on how your projects are designed, implemented, and maintainedProject management skills to keep stakeholders informed and deliver to a timelineBeneficial skillsExperience with audio and/or video streaming designDesign for branding and marketingLocationLos Angeles - in office at least 3 days weekUSA applicants onlyRoot is proud to foster a culture that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
