LASP is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist to help promote our institute to external audiences to build awareness and achieve strategic objectives. This position is responsible for planning, creating, and evaluating marketing and communications products and campaigns designed to elevate LASP's research profile, increase awareness of our areas of expertise, highlight our fundamental capabilities and maturing technologies, and promote our brand. The position reports to the LASP Head of Communications Management and supports the Technology and Business Development Manager and the Director of Strategic Development and Communications. Who We Are

LASP is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. LASP is one of the top space science research institutes in the country employing approximately 500 scientists, engineers, support personnel, and students. The University of Colorado receives more NASA funding than any public university in the country, due in large part to LASP programs. Professional engineers work closely with scientists and assembly technicians in designing and building space flight hardware while helping mentor students as entry-level engineers working on these programs. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Content creation

Plan, research, write, and edit content for LASPs social media accounts and engage with followers as appropriate for accomplishing strategic and team goals

Write, edit, and design external communication products, including marketing materials, digital newsletters, fact sheets, event promotions, presentations, and website content

Create compelling visuals for social media, website posts, and proposals

Oversee the curation of visual assets

Oversee graphics support for proposals as needed

Strategic communications

Collaborate with other team members in the development and dissemination of strategic communications to ensure that LASPs accomplishments reach targeted audiences (agency, industry, university leadership, partners, media, etc.)

Help define communications goals and audiences and work with team members to develop detailed plans and channels to accomplish communications goals

Report on engagement analytics and metrics and use those insights to help guide messaging

Marketing

Coordinate and manage event, conference, and tradeshow presence to include developing marketing/messaging objectives and goals, providing resource and logistical support, and provisioning of marketing materials

Collaborate with institute, university, and external teams to strengthen and ensure consistency in LASP branding

Additional responsibilities

Serve as a communications liaison for missions and programs as assigned

Provide professional assistance and support to the Head of Communications Management in the planning, design, development, and management of strategic, and at times sensitive, communication projects and initiatives

Assist with departmental administrative tasks as needed

What You Should Know

The position is hybrid and may require occasional evening and/or weekend hours.

Occasional travel may be necessary (~5%).

What We Can Offer

Salary range: $75,000 - $84,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting.

What We Require

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
