$87,000 - $104,000 / yearDescription Join Pipeworks Studios and make your mark on the gaming industry as a Senior Environment Artist on an exciting, recently announced Unreal-based AAA project. The Lead Environment Artist may function as a direct contributor and/or lead on a project. This role includes mentoring junior designers, working independently, and collaborating with stakeholders, clients, and the Project Art Director to lead or directly contribute on projects in their environment design, modeling, and texturing needs for a variety of styles and platforms.Day To Day

ResponsibilitiesCreate environments for individual projects, as neededWork with the Project Art Director to determine project requirements, then research, develop, and implement it in engineResearch and stay up to date on current techniques and utilize most relevant processes for each taskWork with design to determine level flow and how it pertains to environmentsWork closely with Technical Artist to develop new or improved techniques to improve quality and efficiencyWork with other departments as neededWork independently and provide accurate time estimations for project planningWork effectively with other artists and engineers to achieve project goalsSolve problems to the benefit of the project/teamSkills Knowledge and Expertise

Must HavesUnderstanding of Maya and/or MaxUnreal experience is required; familiarity with Unity is also preferredAbility to create environment textures within tools such as Substance DesignerAbility to create or work off of environment concepts that are in various stages of completionAbility to consider suggestions and come up with creative solutionsUnderstanding of what tasks fall to art vs. designAbility to keep a clear and consistent scheduleStrong communication abilityProvides accurate estimates for project planningUnderstanding of bug fixing and investigationNice-To-Have SkillsAbility to use ZbrushAbility to provide FXAbility to whitebox levelsEducation & Experience RequiredAny degree or certification in relevant field or equivalent work experience ANDAt least 5 years of experience in a similar rolePrior experience leading or managing Environment Art teams preferredMaterials RequiredCandidate should provide portfolio of art that they have created or directed and a resume detailing the projects/studios that they have been a part of.
