Department Summary

The Sustainable LA Grand Challenge (SLAGC) is a campus-wide incubator for strategic sustainability research initiatives that are societally relevant and impactful, and rooted in interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration. SLAGC is committed to making UCLA the convener for interdisciplinary, cross-sector research that addresses urban sustainability challenges in the LA region and builds on UCLA expertise by strategically drawing in talent from other institutions. In addition to aligning leading experts with societal interests and partners, SLAGC leads efforts to bring in extramural funding to support this sort of discovery and knowledge translation. (Large-scale multi-PI grants, conventional contracts and grants, Philanthropic dollars, MOAs with regional and state agencies).Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Research Development, in consultation with the Faculty Director, the Marketing Campaign Manager will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of strategic marketing campaigns, with a strong emphasis on fundraising, to attract the attention of target audiences through effectively researching audience interests and surrounding landscapes to develop responsive marketing and storytelling strategies. Developing these strategic marketing campaigns and overseeing their implementation is expected to also involve developing distinct identities and brands for SLAGC and the strategic initiatives that SLAGC delivers. Products will include delivery of a marketing strategy brief, as well as managing the production of campaign materials and other external reports for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a proven record of managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines, and being proficient at mining for stories, developing campaigns, and then identifying and distilling marketing information appropriately for various formats, whether presentations, publications, websites or other media platforms. *Must include cover letter and resume to be considered.

Salary & Compensation

Strong marketing project management skills; proven track record or delivering high-quality deliverables on time and within budget by being resourceful, creative, and accountable (Required) Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums, including social media, and formats and the ability to translate and repurpose content to be disseminated across multiple channels (Required) Portfolio exhibiting high level of varied aesthetics and effectiveness in marketing content (Required) Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills (Required) Ability to interview stakeholders and translate messaging into audio, visual and written assets that have desired impact on targeted audiences (Required) Effective at promoting events, awards or monumental milestones through press releases and coordination with media outlets (Required) Skill in mentoring less experienced team members, including student workforce or colleagues coming from other areas of expertise that need to contribute towards campaign assets (Required) Effective at coordinating between multiple high-profile organizations and political offices to align marketing strategies when necessary (Required) Ability to receive and integrate feedback on professional demeanor, work products and professional performance (Required) Experience engaging with scholars, scientists, engineers, elected officials/staff, and other high ranking professionals to represent their work or interests in content and messaging (Preferred) Passion for storytelling and desire to meet audiences where they are at, with a collaborative, inquisitive and empathetic nature (Preferred)Special Conditions for Employment
