is seeking a Project Manager for the Communications Department. This is a full-time, exempt position.About CPD + CPDA:The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We work with more than 50 affiliates in over 30 states and Puerto Rico to build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations that envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.About the Position:We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Communications Department.The Project Manager will be responsible for scheduling and preparing agendas for meetings, tracking tasks, managing information and relationships, and will overall support the Chief of Communications and members of the Communications Department to manage or coordinate projects as needed. The Project Manager will also ensure vendor management runs smoothly in a timely manner, including taking care of contracting and invoicing. The Project Manager will occasionally take on special projects as directed by the Chief of Communications. It is expected that the Project Manager will travel and attend in-person meetings and events, including staff and team retreats, when necessary.We estimate that candidates will have 6 years of relevant experience, but our review of candidates for this role will focus on whether they can fill the needs of the position, not years of experience.The Project Manager will report to the Chief of Communications.Primary Responsibilities:The Project Manager for the Communications Department will:Under the guidance of the Chief of Communications, create, maintain, and manage systems for receiving, assigning, tracking and reporting on incoming requests, tasks, projects for the Communications Department.Refine tools for gathering and managing information needed for successful communications strategies, work products, and work plans.Manage and track relationships with third-party vendors, services, and independent contractors.Support Communications Directors and other Communications staff in clarifying responsibilities for multi-stakeholder projects.Schedule necessary scoping meetings and identify meeting facilitators and participants.Identify tasks and owners for projects, and track follow-up.Help to design effective meeting spaces and identify agenda content and other ways of sharing information.Attend and actively participate in key meetings to develop an understanding of ongoing initiatives.Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.Provide administrative support to the Chief of Communications, including scheduling, logistical support, and expense reimbursements.Support on special projects as needed, and perform other related duties as assigned.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:A minimum of 3-5 years experience in project management and/or marketing.Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.The ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.Proactive problem-solving skills.The ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, vendors, and affiliate organizations.Experience with event coordination, and/or communications campaigns preferred.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be resourceful in finding ways to complete tasks on time and with high quality.A demonstrated commitment to social, racial, and economic justice and a deep understanding of challenges facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, communities of color, disabled people, LGBTQ+ folks, and people at the intersections of the above communities.Hiring Process:Applicants should expect to participate in two rounds of group interviews and a job simulation exercise.
