DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:

This is a non-exempt position under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of marketing, publicity, and sponsorship services that contribute to the Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Pueblo's mission and vision. The Program Coordinator will make independent decisions for the direction of a functional area within the guidelines set by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Promotes, develops and implements marketing efforts to increase utilization and participation of all Parks and Recreation department programs, facilities and eventsImplements and maintains digital and print communication mediums for all Parks and Recreation department programs, parks, facilities and eventsCreate and manage consistent image and messaging media plan for the promotion of Parks and Recreation departmentDevelops, manages and monitors social media content/graphics for Parks and Recreation departmentCoordinates and produces community special events to include, but not limited to Movies in the ParkIMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:

Assist with the development of marking initiatives and solicits corporate and private program sponsorships in support of departmentAssist the City Information Technology, and Public Affairs Department with content development and community engagement for the Parks and Recreation webpages and social media outletsWork closely with the Public Affairs Department to coordinate and/or facilitate media coverage and publicity for department (press releases, calendar listings, ads, photo and story requests, etc.)Coordinate and/or support public awareness and information programs for community outreach events designed to foster a positive public image of the city and departmentAssist with all departmental efforts for guest feedback processes, data collection, and analysisMay perform duties of similar classifications of an equal or lower pay grade as requiredPhysical Requirements:The physical attributes an employee must have in order to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to:

Knowledge of the practices and processes of parks and recreation programming and services is preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities the position requires:

A valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment

License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualificationDuring the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license

An associate degree or at least 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, business administration, public relations, or recreationTwo (2) years of direct work experience in the field of parks and recreation, marketing, business administration, or public relations

An associate degree may be substituted for two (2) additional years of direct work experience in the field of parks and recreation, marketing, business administration, or public relations. In this case, a high school diploma or GED would be required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Work is mostly performed in an office environment with frequent visits to assigned outdoor recreational areas and facilities used for associated programs, activities and events. Employee will occasionally be in natural terrain with uneven footing. This position may be exposed to noise, moving parts, heights, dangerous chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Work involves frequent interruptions and a high volume of work, in a sometimes-noisy setting.

All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain and maintain the licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination. The individual must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule. This position may be subject to overtime.

Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information.
