The Information Technology Services Department has an opening for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator. In this position you will be responsible for managing the mapping and all associated documentation for the City's enterprise communications network, which includes underground conduit, cable, manholes, and all other components of the City's communications infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

Perform advanced technical analysis and evaluation of mapping software and applications.Manage the communications asset inventory management systems in SAP Plant Maintenance and ESRI ArcGIS.Manage the ESRI ArcGIS application.Manage city owned data in the Arizona 811 UtiliSphere application.Support programs and manage vendors to successfully support the City's documentation of the extensive fiber optic and copper networks.Perform technical analysis and evaluation of the infrastructure mapping application, all associated documentation and project deliverables for all city projects.Gather data of new infrastructure.Review final as-builts and deliverables for compliance and accuracy.Monitor and provide reports on the quality of the daily work performed by the City's telecommunications utility locating vendor.Other responsibilities as requested by leadership.The temporary position will be funded through September 30, 2026, and will be reviewed in a future budget cycle to determine if the position will be extended, ended, or made regular. The temporary position will have benefits but will not earn city retirement credits or participate financially into the city's retirement program. If the successful candidate is a current City employee, all benefits will still be applicable, and the employee will still contribute to their pension. Temporary positions are not covered under civil service rules, and thus employment is considered "at-will" and employees may be separated at any time.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Skilled in database development, applications layer development, and extensive knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS application.SALARY

Pay Range: $76,627.20 to $102,668.80/annually.

Hiring Range: $76,627.20 to $97,780.80/annually.

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science.Two years of experience working with geographic information systems.One year of supervisory experience.Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.The City job description can be found here .All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.This position is subject to

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Five years of experience managing ESRI ArcGIS mapping application.Three years of experience managing telecommunications related mapping projects or applications.Three years of experience working in a large-scale environment and supervising highly technical staff.Experience designing and managing telecommunications documentation including fold flats/butterfly drawings of manholes, building floor plans, and all associated documentation including splice details and bore profiles.Experience integrating customer owned mapping applications with Arizona 811 UtiliSphere mapping for one call notification coverage areas.Experience using standard CAD, work processing, ESRI ArcGIS and database software packages.Current BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification or successful completion of the BICSI Project Management Course.
