Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Civil/Roadway Designer/EIT, you will work as part of our civil team to assist with project delivery for a diverse range of civil and transportation projects for our state and municipal clients.The candidate must be a highly motivated and talented engineer with a strong background and interest in the design and construction of transportation projects. Check out the difference Employee Ownership makes at HDR!In the role of Civil/Roadway Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:Work collaboratively with other project engineers to develop designs for urban and rural roadway projectsContribute to the life cycle of a project, from feasibility analysis through the construction phaseAssist the Project Manager through creative problem-solving, during interactions with clients, and by completing tasks to meet the project scheduleTake responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimatesProvide assistance with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculationsProvide construction inspection support and engineering oversight on active construction projectsReview the work of peers and communicate constructive feedbackPerform other duties as neededQualifications

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering fieldExperience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation OpenRoadsComprehension with Microsoft Office and other processing softwareExcellent communication, motivation, and organizational skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustPreferred QualificationsEIT or ability to obtain within 6 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will be given the title “Civil / Roadway Designer” and are expected to receive their EIT for Career progression2 years of experience in roadway design and construction inspectionExperience with stormwater software including HydroCAD, Hydroflow, and culvert design HEC RASExperience designing urban and rural highway interchanges, roadway intersections, traffic management solutions, complete streets concepts, and roadway drainageExperience developing construction plans, roadway alignments, drainage design, and site gradingExperience performing site inspections, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinating with client and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for informationFluency with AutoDesk Civil 3D, Bentley MircoStation, and Bentley InRoadsExperience working with state, municipal, and private transportation clients, such as Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont DOTs and the MBTAPreference given to local candidatesWhy HDRAt HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
