Starting Salary:

$33.80 - $35.35

About this Position

The Design Program Manager will facilitate the design of park and public space projects that will improve the physical environment for Edmond residents and visitors. By maintaining clear lines of communication and providing consistent updates, the Design Program Manager will ensure project phases progress smoothly, reflect the desired outcomes, and meet requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints.

This position requires the ability to see the big picture organizationally while also paying attention to design and process details. The incumbent must be able to take initiative to improve existing work practices and project standards.

This position generally operates on an 8:00-5:00 schedule Monday through Friday with flexibility for alternative daily start and end times. Can also operate on an alternative schedule to be off by 11:30 on Friday. This position has the ability to be remote or hybrid.

Most weeks will require attendance of a small number of meetings in the evening. Incumbents must be available to meet at times when other staff members and stakeholders are typically available.

Responsibilities

Oversee the design process of quality-of-life projects, ensuring they meet quality, time, and budget requirementsIdentify and meet with stakeholders to obtain their input on design related decisionsParticipate in meetings of public boards, commissions, committees, and partners to provide public outreach and solicit inputImplement project management tools and methodologies to track project progress, milestones, project cost, and deliverablesNegotiate contracts with vendors and facilitate review of documents, including scope of work, timelines, and budgetsProvide direction and feedback to the design team, ensuring the final product aligns with stakeholder expectations and organizational standardsProactively identify risks to efficient and effective project development, including advising on contingency plansOrganize and lead post-project evaluations to identify successes, challenges, and areas for improvement for future projectsQualifications

Broad knowledge of a specialized field equivalent to a four-year college degreeDegree or certificate/licensure in Project Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or other design profession (preferred)

5 years of related experience and/or trainingOr

equivalent combination of education and experience

2 years of management experiencePeople

and/or

project management

Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrierNecessary Skills

Advanced skill using the following:Project planning & tracking softwareVisual presentation softwareText creation & editing softwareMicrosoft Office applications and other productivity applications
