As a Technical Director- Energy, at least 50% of your workload will focus on operationalizing the discipline strategy created by the Product Director, including skill development of others within the energy specialty areas, leading specialist networks, and developing/updating products and tools to achieve our ambition of becoming a premier risk advisor. This role enhances Liberty Mutual’s Risk Control Services leadership position and brand recognition in the market. You will provide expert consultative services to an assigned group of customers requiring complex technical and consultative skills and enhance the Company's leadership position in the safety field through speaking engagements at conferences, developing key relationships, and publishing safety-related articles in professional publications.***Ideal location is Houston, Dallas, Plano TX areas***ResponsibilitiesResponsible for operationalizing the energy discipline created by the Product Director.Provides feedback on strategy execution in the field.Demonstrates ability to influence others without direct authority.Leads and manages specialist network with Product Director input.Demonstrates an ability to coach effectively utilizing the skills assessment tool via progression of learners in discipline.Participates in the quality process by coaching others on quality expectations for client engagements and completed work products through regular reviews of self-produced and final work products from the technical discipline.Matrixes with reporting to field leadership; non-customer facing work directed by Product Director and Product Director Leader (in collaboration with manager) with OSPE objectives and feedback provided by Product Director.Proactively engages with peers and Product Directors to ensure consistent vision and execution of discipline plan.Delivers direct customer service primarily focused on complex technical/consulting needs across the organization (up to 50% workload).Supports the organization through successful completion of risk assessment and customer-facing work.Demonstrates business impact as a result of risk control services planned and delivered.Participates in actively acquiring and retaining profitable business.Advises internal partners on technical issues that can affect the profitability of the energy portfolio and supports business agility to adapt and respond quickly to market change.Identifies, addresses, and provides solutions for emerging risks areas, in collaboration with other internal stakeholders.Cultivates strong relationships with external partners, such as brokers and clients by demonstrating expertise.Supports internal knowledge sharing culture.Participates in external industry, standards, or trade associations to support brand awareness and translate current information back to the Risk Control Services organization.Key Capabilities and CharacteristicsMust have experience in upstream, midstream, power generation/transmission/distribution, and renewable energy.ERIS designation preferred.Strong leadership, business acumen, technical and consulting capabilities, and project/change management skills used to contribute to development of strategic plan for aligned discipline.Advanced knowledge of loss prevention principles, practices, and core service capabilities as they relate to performance and profitability.Experience with service planning/execution, risk assessment, solutions management, and ability to demonstrate results (ROI).Inquisitive thinking and problem-solving skills; can leverage these skills to influence change.Able to adapt to changing and competing priorities demonstrating resilience and flexibility.Demonstrates personal energy, stamina, and discretionary effort.Works with a sense of urgency and handles setbacks/feedback with a growth mindset.Strong collaboration skills and commitment to continuous improvement.Ability to develop and maintain relationships with other departments, peers, and industry contacts.Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with coursework in math, engineering or related areas (or equivalent) and at least 10 years of directly related consulting experience in loss prevention or progressive safety/health field. Candidates are typically working towards (or have obtained) an advanced degree and/or professional certification in one or more of the following areas: CSP, ARM, CRM, CPCU, CIH, or CPE. Advanced knowledge, skills, and experience in a specialized field, service planning and delivery, risk assessment, risk analysis, solutions management, and progress measurement.Fully effective interpersonal, writing, and other communication skills required to develop and maintain relationships with customers, peers, and industry contacts.Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.Demonstrated ability to retrieve and enter information using various proprietary software applications and create/modify documents and complex spreadsheets using Microsoft Office suite.Position requires regular travel.About Us
