This individual will work alongside the Business Development Team to develop solutions that solve our client's facilities, operational, and financial challenges. They will then champion these solutions through the design process by leading the internal team of design engineers and drafters. This position is remote and can be based out of CA, WA, OR, CO, TX, or KS.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for direct leadership over design engineers in MEP group, resulting in the delivery of high-quality, innovative projects.Establishes and maintains relationship with partner subcontractors and consultant disciplines.Ensures that assigned projects meet all internal and external expectations.Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specification and technical plans.Provide constant guidance of designer engineers, setting goals, expectations, and priority of tasks.Provide annual performance evaluations of design engineers.Provide corrective action plans and coaching for design engineers.Accountable for project design compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.Communicate with customers to determine needs and applications relative to special installations and adaptations.Manage design of diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities.Monitor, track, and proactively coordinate the progress of projects under development.Work closely with project development to support specification development and monitor attainment of those specifications throughout the entire project delivery.Lead design across multiple sites nationally, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.Job Requirements / QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering.Professional Engineering license in mechanical engineering (HVAC) in at least one state is required. NCEES record and multi-state licensure is preferred.Ten or more years of progressive engineering experience.Additional project development, engineering, and energy related certifications are a plus (e.g. LEED-AP, CEM, ASHRAE, DBIA, etc.).Experience leading teams.Knowledgeable about codes and specifications required by federal, state and local agencies.Experience in Municipal, University, K-12 Schools, or healthcare (MUSH market) is preferred.Moderate national travel required with possibility of limited national travel; overnight travel about 15%.EEO Non-Discrimination and ADA Reasonable Accommodation StatementWilldan is an equal opportunity employer.
