Substation P&C DesignerJob Summary

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation P&C Designer in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Freeport, Maine office. An in-office and/or hybrid work environment is available for this position.A remote role may be considered depending on the individual's level of experience and proven ability to work on a remote basis successfully.Role and ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substationsPerform detailed design of one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communicationsFamiliar with conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, AC/DC service calculations and selection of substation equipmentThe successful candidate shall be able to contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project schedulingOccasional travel will be requiredRequired Education/ExperienceAbility to function as a Substation P&C Designer in our Freeport, Maine officeAssociate's degree or equivalent technical educationExperience with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with both is preferredUnderstanding of electric utility substation designElectrical and mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detailGood command of the Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and WordThe candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelCandidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/ExperienceExperience in 15kV through 230kV substation designFamiliarity with Raster Design and "brownfield" (retrofit) design processesFamiliarity with databases and database designFamiliarity with Autodesk Vault (or other Document Management Systems)Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and suchAbility to select materials based on technical requirementsAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
