This position will work under the supervision of the Coffee County Communication Board while utilizing broad objectives and guidelines. The director is responsible for organizing and directing activities of the Coffee County Consolidated Communications Center. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of departmental divisions and conducting strategic planning. The director will manage the 911 center personnel, oversee department maintenance on equipment, building and the grounds, perform training functions, and handle all concerns of the public regarding complaints and issues against the department.Qualifications required for the position are as follows: the required knowledge to satisfactorily perform the job duties is acquired through a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year College or University plus six years of 911 experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The director must complete all mandatory training to stay certified and maintain proficiency as a dispatcher and familiarize themselves with all equipment pertaining to the daily operations of the Coffee County Communication Center. The director must live within a twenty-five (25) mile radius from the location of the Communication Center for travel time in case of a workplace emergency.
