The NBCUniversal team is looking for a Senior Director of User Experience Research to drive the strategic product research vision for Peacock, building and aligning the user research roadmap to organizational objectives as well as solving for immediate product and design needs. This person will collaborate with cross functional partners across the Product, Design, Data Science, and Analytics teams, and will lead the research initiatives that help the team validate and evaluate features as well as the foundational research that helps define our future strategic product roadmaps. Reporting into the Vice President of User Research and Consumer Insights, the Senior Director will lead a team of user researchers as they represent the voices of our users, influencing senior stakeholders and decision makers across the organization.

You will be responsible for guiding the careers of your team members and working closely with them to help them realize both their immediate goals and their full potential as researchers.As Peacock’s Senior Director of User Research, you will fiercely advocate for both the users of our products and for your team. As an expert in mixed methods research, you will field both qualitative and quantitative studies, including interviews, diary studies, surveys, focus groups, and ethnographies while collaborating with our Analytics and Data Science teams to marry qualitative, quantitative, and behavioral data to dimensionalize the needs of our users.You will serve not just as an expert in the execution of UX research, but also in the business on NBCUniversal — balancing user insights with the business acumen that helps to build excellent products. You’ll collaborate with partners and other leaders across the organization to ensure that we are creating innovative experiences that resonate with consumers as our brand and products continue to grow.Responsibilities:Leading and developing a high-performing team of user researchers, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching while setting new standards for methodological rigor and research excellenceFostering a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive research culturePartnering with stakeholders across the organization to define and prioritize research initiatives that align with business objectives and center user needsOwning and driving the User Research roadmap, ensuring stakeholder and product needs are met and well aligned to achieve organizational KPIs and goalsAccountability for the quality of research outputs, ensuring a high bar for execution for user research throughout the product lifecycleVendor selection and managementCommunicating research findings effectively, translating complex insights into actionable recommendations for key decision-makersInfluencing strategic and tactical product roadmaps with cross-functional leadershipManaging complex schedules across multiple projects to ensure on time deliveryDriving strategic initiatives to inform and shape research programs, cross-organizational collaborations, and product strategiesCollaborating closely with cross-functional leaders at multiple levels of seniority in Product, Design, Marketing, and AnalyticsConnecting with other Research colleagues across NBCUniversal to share insights as well as lessons learned in conducting researchStaying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously evolving our research methodologies and approachesQualifications

Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related fieldExpert in quantitative and qualitative research study design and analysisExpert across a number of qualitative and quantitative research methods —including surveys, digital ethnographies, focus groups, etc.Deep knowledge of behavioral user analytics and how to incorporate them into UX research efforts12+ years of experience executing applied research10+ years of experience leading collaborative efforts across disciplines9+ years of experience managing, leading, and growing a team of user researchers6+ years of consumer product research experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent data storytelling and presentation skillsExtensive experience driving strategic product value through stakeholder influenceDesired Characteristics:Master’s degree or PhD in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related fieldExpertise in group moderation and facilitation12+ years of experience conducting UX research on products10+ years of experience working with executive leadership5+years of experience driving projects in a large, matrixed organizationAdditional Requirements:Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
